By then, she had been told already that she was not allowed anywhere near anyone of any importance. So she is literally plying the streets....

Not a very nice person and not much of a role model anymore with all the effin' and blindin' she is proffering..

I have a technical background, Jim, so just keep on doing what you do - I'm all for it.

i would think its in the best interest of electricity suppliers to get us all using energy saving devices ( like LED bulbs)...means they dont need to supply so much power--but still charge us all more. Profits !

The Voltext thing is a scam, the page caused my antivirus to react, regards the product if it looks too good to be true then it probably isn't true :D

On the subject of LED lights, all of mine are now LED lights and further they are smart lights so I can tell Amazon Alexa to turn them off and on.

My computers tend to be second hand the one I am typing on just now (first pic) was manufactured in 2012 and cost me about £400 three years ago, because I tend to run at least 2 computers at any one time and they can cost a fair bit to run if you have them on 8 hours a day each, I used to make the mistake of keeping them on all the time but they are now on Alexa voice controlled switches and set to auto power on at my voice command, I still power them off manually, when they are on they help heat the room a little bit at this time of year.

I recently got this little beauty, again second hand for £260 but this one is only 2 years old but this uses so little power that even though it is superior to the laptop above in performance it is not as good a space heater :) I upped the RAM to 32 GB and the disk to 2TB.

For scale these things are tiny

The net result of the smart switches LED's and controlled use of the computers and screens is that my electric bill is substantially lower than this time last year as per the spreadsheet a couple of pages back, today I will use 8 units less than the same day last year 5.3 units instead of about 13.7 units.

No one is going to escape from increasing fuel costs, cheap oil and gas are probably not coming back for a long time if ever and we've spent the last 30 years building our entire generation system around cheap gas instead of making a serious investment in renewables over that timeframe, yes we have a lot of renewables now but we should have had double or triple the renewable capacity by now if we had been serious about fixing our future.

We flew in yesterday from Belfast following a short break there.

Unfortunately, whilst we were in the sky, there was an attempted runway incursion by protestors (I assume Insulate Britain as they had been causing disruption on the roads to Manchester Airport) which meant our easyJet flight was diverted to Liverpool.

Upon hearing the announcement, Mrs R's eyes lit up.
"We can go to Jollibee now" were the first words uttered from her mouth. After about 30 minutes on the ground in Liverpool, the airport in Manchester was open again so, to the chorus of groans of the many Northern Irish fans traveling for the Liverpool-Atletico match (assume the direct Liverpool flight must have been rather pricey) and Mrs R, we took probably the shortest flight I've ever been on over to Manchester (Bahrain-Doha the previous shortest for me, I think). Overall, the attempted protest increased our emissions quite reassuringly.
