On phone and having problems quoting so I can't reply directly, but thanks all!

and now....It seems vsf didn't bother to let us know the documents were being sent out (!)

the day after she got the email and text mentioned above, a courier showed up with the passport / other docs. of course, because they hadn't told us they were coming, she was asleep from a late shift and missed them completely. they're now coming back on Monday. kiiinda infuriating :/

aren't they supposed to send a follow up message? I love how we do get a generic "decision made" mail but they fail to tell us delivery information, which is the only bit we actually care about. inserting my biggest eye roll emoticon here...

hi,the vfs usually tell the applicant to track the documents online once an emai/text from embassy and vfs has been received.Thats what I did and I also called the courriers number so I never went out of the house on the date of intended delivery of the passport. Thanks

Woke up to the news that she's been granted the visa!

This is going to take a little while to sink in i think :D

We had a huge problem at submission time when most of my original docs didnt get handed in http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/document-submission-disaster-maybe.11793/

Despite that, we managed to get them the documents after initial submission and it's possible we're now a walking case study in "Look how wrong this went but we still pulled it off" so don't lose hope!

Thanks to everyone on this forum who has given advice over the last few months I've been popping up asking questions, and some of the replies in the linked thread above were absolute life savers - it's quite possible the visa result would have been very different only for posts / DMs sent my way. Hopefully I can help others down the line in similar ways, but for now I'm going to have a go at getting my head around everything that's happened.

    Cheers!

Wonderful news !! Well done you both and many congratulations.

Just helps to support the case that UKVI ECO's do not have the objective to search for reasons to refuse.

Enjoy this life changing moment. :like:

Congratulations @binglybongly I think the visa was probably sent direct from UKVI, so VFS Global knew nothing about it.

Happy New Year.I am together with my hubby here in UK.Thanks everyone for all the advices and useful insights.Hope I can help and contribute to this forum more in the future.

I already got my BRP and applied for an NHS number.

May I ask how to apply a National Insurance number for the first time?

    Thanks a lot xx
