So while we're waiting and I'm stressing about Visa agencies, I guess we could be booking these tests. Can anyone please direct me to the list of approved places and the info we need? Thank you
Actually I've found the TB thing - https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...pines/tuberculosis-testing-in-the-philippines Anyone got any info on the English test though please?
Sounds like a good plan. Get them under your belt first. The language test, for sure. The good news is that most Filipinos have a head start with this one. My wife used Hopkins but the UKBA have since struck them off their approved list.
Please see the link below regarding UKBA accepted English tests, click on the web links on the right hand side of the page to find nearest test centre location.
I spent hours on the phone way back in 2011 trying to sort that one out. That was before I had joined a forum or instructed an agency.
Pearson Academic, but I think I mentioned a little while back that it was an English Academic test for tier 2 and 4 visas, skilled workers and people wishing to study at an English uni, it is on the list so that's the main thing
All the tests on that page will do the business but some will be harder than others, the link I sent you is for a basic English test that does the business as far as our friends the UKBA are concerned
I really think the UKBA should omit this English test as a requirement for Filipinos, the vast majority of people there can speak reasonable English as we all know.
Thank you for this very topical thread; we have been waiting for my decree absolute but it arrived on Saturday, so now I have to help K through these tests next week.
Your turn now Andrew to experience the delights of applying for a visa. . Well. One key step done now. I would imagine K will sail through the English tests.
Have a look at this current thread, Lisa.... http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/fiance-visa-to-uk-inquiry.9241/page-4#post-57652 Also: http://www.britishcouncil.ph/
"In addition, this statement of changes to the Immigration Rules will remove all tests provided by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), and specific tests provided by Cambridge English and Trinity College London from the list of approved English tests. These changes are being made at the providers’ requests." https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/statement-of-changes-in-immigration-rules--8
