My wife has described the Mall in that area as being excellent and upmarket. She said she often saw various Philippine celebrities there which implied it was the pace to go to. Or does it shutdown at night?

Which area do you mean John?

If you mean Festival Mall in Alabang, then yeah it shuts and there is no surrounding night life.

I will have to check with her. It is close to where she lived for a few years. Near the "posh" expensive village.

    Rustans is there I think.

Las Pinas has some bars. For just couple of drinks and music after a busy day at work, it's alright. Not great though. But I agree might not be a place for a Brit.

Yes, the Seaside Market I'm talking about is the one near NAIA and World Trade. It's Paranaque, but closer to Pasay. lol.

Malate cafes and chick bars are alright. I know that Korean restaurant you're referring to, it's quite good. lol.

For Brits and foreigners in general who have money to burn, and who wants to go for drinks, some music and to meet beautiful ladies (not just Pinays) try Cafe Havana at Ayala, Makati.

She's referring to Alabang Town Center. Local celebrities are a normal sight over there.

That will be the one. No night life there or does it all close down at 6pm? Restaurants, cinemas etc?

It's a shopping mall. Not really one's definition of a nightlife establishment. But for wholesome and family affair, it's good, especially if you prefer the upscale- posh places. Hahahahahah...

It closes at around 10, I believe.

In NCR, for the real nightlife: clubs, restaurants, live music, dancing, music, girls; Makati would be the place to go. There are lots of expats there too, not just British. Taguig, which is close, offers the same. BGC (Bonifacio Global City), home to various clubs can be found there.

Malate is not that bad, but it's downscale compared to Makati.

For the seedier establishments, Subic is the place to go to.

I guess it depends on what you want from your "nightlife" :D

Cafe Havana's expensive, but they do a great Gambas :) there's a lot of variety round that part of Greenbelt these days.

Ana and I go to Malate for live music not the 'chick bars' :) she enjoys the comedy in The Library, so we occasionally go there.

For a cheap night out the nearest half decent place near where we live is Huerto's in Paranaque just past SM Sucat heading east, and with two young kids both at school I'm not the kind of Brit that has money to burn :D

More often than not we end up at the La Mesa Grill in MoA these days after church on a Sunday, as the kids like to play on the various entertainments at the front of the promenade.

Yes it shuts early, we made the mistake of going down to Festival mall too late at night and then had to walk back up, as it happened to the Town Centre which was also shut, eventually we walked back to the Alabang Zapote road and got a jeepney back to civilisation, stopped off at Pier 1 in Las Pinas which is really poor to be honest, got bored and went home early.

As John says it depends what you want from your night life, for us that's just some good music, a nice meal, maybe play a few games of pool (billiards as everyone seems to call it) and sometimes to have a laugh in a comedy club :)

For Mrs Ash and her entourage and everyone etc, it was her local mall.

I'll give it a try. I'm down for anything, even just Sisig or Beef Pares in a kanto.
    Or some Balut. Hahahahah...
