Hello, I am a new member here just today. To be honest I've been a lurker for some time and would like to join the fun. I am a Brit and my wife is Filipina. We have been married for 15 years and currently living in UK for past 7 years. Like many others we have battled our way through such a lot red tape barriers and visa issues, together with the associated high financial costs. We won through, still smiling, and now my wife has dual citizenship. I am very lucky as I managed to retire early (just got fed up working in the rat race) My wife is a Home Care support worker and I am her taxi driver. I am hoping to make some new friends here, and learn as much as I can about moving to the Philippines. We both wish to 'retire' to the Philippines soon. I am very willing to help people with their needed UK visa issues and enjoy participation in all kinds of discussion topics. We usually visit the Philippines at least twice a year, but have now decided to cut down a little so my wife can discover and enjoy Europe (Now it's easier to travel with British passport!) Nice to be here.
Peter, I would like to extend you the warmest of welcome aboard... I am sure that your input in visa issues will be appreciated, and we allways ready for a bit of a discussion on different topics. A bit of a "Dickensian" handle you got there... Anything to do with teaching Literature in the past...??
Well, I am a fan of Charles Dickens but neither an expert nor a teacher. My username Micawber is more related a positive outlook and always believing that "something will turn up." Just like Mr Micawber I tend to live in hopeful expectation. Anyway, thanks for the welcome.
Thanks Lana for your welcome. I'm going to start reading some past posts here today, jus to get to know a little more about all the members. Take care.
Hi Peter pleased to meet you Im in the Phils right now having just got married and have a passing knowledge of Cebu spent 13 months here since the end of 08 so fire away on Phils stuff
Thanks Kuya. BTW, just about every member of my extended family in Phils calls me Kutya also. (It's an age thing!!) I'm not an expert on Visa's, but I do have plenty of time to research some informative sources. I did work for UKBA some time ago, although not front line immigration. Besides which there are so many complex changes that happen. I enjoy helping and sharing whenever I can. It makes me happy and keeps my brain active Thanks for making me welcome
Hi Al, thanks for your welcome. I notice that your location is Mandaue City, Cebu. Are you currently living there?
Hi there Keith, congratulations on your recent marriage. From your location you appear to be living in both Cebu and Portugal? Now you got wed do you have an intention to live in Philippines? or take your wife to Portugal? Looks like there are already a couple of people here who have made or half made a "move". I have spent quite a lot of time in the Philippines and have been lucky enough to see a lot of places (still lots more to see), but have no idea just yet how I will make the final move or exactly where I will finally settle down. Anyway good to meet you Keith
Hello adamchryss, thanks for your welcome. Nice avatar, happy days eh? Children are a real joy. Advice from an old un..... be sure to spend quality time with children, they grow up so fast and it's too easy to forget that time is gold. Family is priority imho
Hi Peter! you are most here in EuroPinoy we will be looking forward to your inputs on visa's and all as some of us here are still quite neophyte on those things
Hi yuna, thanks for taking time to make me welcome. The visa issues are not usually so difficult. The compliance issues are stipulated in black and white. The ECO discretionary issues are also written in guidelines, policy and process. The real difficulty is in those areas where reconsideration or appeal will not be given. Civil service processes are relatively easy (logic) to understand. On our first step we are all beginers. Take care
Welcome Peter to you and to your wife! That is very interesting introductory post, good to have you here!
