hi agan timmers and anne, I hope you are both well. may I ask what you can tell me about uk visitors visa and If bringing my friend here for a holiday Is an Initial viable option? thanks guys, I do appreciate your wise counsel
Getting a visitor visa is difficult and they are often refused. I do know people who have been succesful though, but it needs a lot of thought. My wife's friend had her father over for a few months recently. They were succesful on their second attempt, after being refused first time. I think they might be particularly reticent in approving a visa in the case of a partner, as their is a risk of it being abused. In fact I know people who are trying just that as a route to staying in this country, so I understand why they are difficult to obtain in those circumstances.
We had a discussion about this only yesterday, see the thread below; http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/tourist-visa-and.10157/page-2#post-70895
thank you maharg, your Information is very helpful as we consider our options...it appears that it could be quite a challenge just to meet my friend in person never mind anything else
[QUOTI="Maharg, post: 70913, member: 382"]Can you not go to visit Philippines? That's a much easier option.
that Is definitely an option but I have concerns about past convictions causing me entry problems
Its worth a try going for the visit visa but it is better if you are aware that you could be disappointed.
QUOTE="samesam, post: 70918, member: 3240"]thank you timmers, becoming less of an option by the minute....
Is there any philippinos on this site who would be willing to translate and relay important information between my friend and I?

thank you timmers, will do that
If you are going to meet the loved one for the first time then the Philippines is the place to do it, cheaper option for you too. KLM flights to the Philippines are always available at a reasonable price.

I understand I could get connection but, if possible, trying to avoid that.

There are no direct flights to General Santos City. You need to take domestic flights Philippine Airlines (PAL) or Cebu Pacific. There a lot of promo fares in CebuPac
