The CFO seminar is for your partner only. The counselling is mandatory for Filipinos in intermarriages. As mentioned above, there is an office in Manila and there's one in Cebu :)

For the life skills exam, you have to claim the results in person. Not sure if it has changed though. You can always call IDP or British Council to clarify :)

Ah ok thx again for your input i appreciate it,, my wifes asking is there like an expiry date for when she has to leave The Philippines ? i says don`t worry about that you wont be missing the flight lol.. but she`s more concerned to how much time will she have left to spend with her family.. ok an example say we suggest we plan on returning to UK MAY 15, does she have several weeks to leave from that date or ?

I think you have 24 days from the validity of the visa to leave the country if its a spouse visa, I could be wrong, hopefully someone here will clarify.

EDIT: This time limit is relatively new, at one time you were allowed 3 months to use the visa.

Its actually 30 days you are given now to use a spouse visa and you also need to collect a BRP shortly after arriving in the UK, see the link below, it will give you the times and how to obtain the BRP once you are in the UK. They actually place a vignette in the applicants passport now, note that you have to apply for a new vignette if the visa is not used within 30 days.

NOTE: the above does not apply for the Fiancée visa, the 30 day rule is for visas that are valid for over six months only.

Sorry, not true. My wife and son both have their CFO stickers even though their Visas aren't effective until 28th March.

The Immigration Officer in whichever departures terminal you use, will check that (1) a Visa of the correct type exists, (b) that the Visa has "started" and (c) a CFO sticker is in the Passport nominating the country being departed for. If there's no valid CFO sticker, then the passenger will need to produce a roundtrip ticket with the return portion dated within 91 days of departure.

Note that you can actually get the CFO sticker at the airport if you are going to be pushed for time, you would need to contact the CFO office first though as I believe you have to give a couple of days notice, its not something I would like to do though, I would say that its always best to obtain the CFO sticker prior to traveling if at all possible.

yeah i agree things are never straight forward here,, question Marilou`s Visa begins on the 31st May.. does that mean she cant depart the Philippines until the 31st May or ENTER the UK from the 31st onwards.. i,e can she fly out on the 30th but arrive in the UK on the 31st ?
