    Good afternoon everyone,
I hope that you're all well. I've just paid the IHS and received the Transaction Confirmation Email. It says that they will email me again with the IHS Reference Number

(On completion of your IHS application you will also be emailed a copy of your IHS reference number, which you will need for your immigration application.)

Well I've completed it and i'm still waiting for the email with the ref number. How long does it usually take? Alternatively, is the Transaction reference the same as the IHS reference?

thank you for your kind help :)

Hi @CharlesCalix after a few minutes they will email immediately the IHS no.. But if not, it's the same as the IHS reference in the transaction reference..

You need an IHS reference number before you can apply for a visa.. In order to have that , you'll need to pay for the health surcharge.

That's the new rule of UKVI.. It's more expensive to apply the visa nowadays. .

Yeah. I know about it, I just didn't know what IHS meant.

We will do our second FLR in November, and will have to pay NHS then. I'll keep costs under control by doing a postal application instead of Premium Service this time. No real urgency on this one.

Just a incremental unique identifier to anyone who logs onto the website wanting to apply for the NHS charge. Even if you don't complete the whole process you are still allocated an IHS number.

When we first heard of the NHS charge I went and logged onto the website and tried it a few times just to see what it was all about, being allocated an IHS number each time.

I wrote the IHS ref number on front page of my application when I went to submit all my documents they ask for printout of IHS confirmation . I told them that it's not on their instructions . But the lady said to be on safe side just include the printout so I did. Phew

Ohhhh God, i do it wrong, i pay the NHS surcharge seperately, and it says i should pay it together with the application online

You may need to pay a healthcare surcharge (called the ‘immigration health surcharge’ or IHS) as part of your immigration application.

If you’re applying online or through the premium service centre, you’ll pay the surcharge as part of your application or when you book an appointment.

If you’re applying by post, you must pay the healthcare surcharge onlinebefore you send your application - you’ll need to include the IHS reference number on your application form.

Ohhhh dear, we need to pay it again together with my application online,,

Personally I'd pay it again. Worry about the refund later. You have cut it fine with the timing.

I Really feel bad halohalo, i didnt read it well, i missed it, and i feel its my fault for not reading it well, that i need to pay the NHS Surcharge in thE UKVI site. Instead i pay it separately,,. I need to pay it again so i can book our liverpool appointment. I really feel bad.:(:(

No need to feel bad. We are humans and we make errors. Important thing is that it can be fixed. Once you explain the issue and that you've paid twice you will be entitled to get your first payment back. Just a bit of hassle sorting it out. Focus on your application for now. Good luck :)

Hi Shengsei. To be honest I'm not sure I can answer your question. I don't know anyone who has requested a refund as of yet.
