Hi guys, firstly I would like to thank the administrators for accepting me into what seems to be a close-knit forum. I am about to begin my daunting journey into applying for a UK visa for my Filipina fiancée, and I would be eternally grateful for any help in this process.

My name is Nick and I'm 29, originally from London but I currently reside in West Sussex. About 2 and half months ago I had the pleasure of making contact with an amazing Filipina, who I constantly talk to via Facebook and Skype. Yesterday I just returned from an unforgettable 2 week vacation to meet my Asian angel. We instantly clicked like we knew we would, and at the end of my time with her I proposed and thankfully she accepted. We intend to get married in the Philippines in October of this year, and God willing I intend to bring her back to the UK with me at some point so we can start a family.

Now I begin the long process of applying for the relevant visa and making sure we meet all the requirements to satisfy UK Immigration and Customs. So I ask you wonderful people if you could help me begin to this process by pointing me in the right direction towards any information which you think will help our cause. Specifically, I would like to know what is the right visa for us. And what are the main requirements we need to fulfill.

I am desperate to make this happen, but I am slightly overwhelmed by the volume of information I have already read. Please, any help with making my dream turn into a reality would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time in reading this. Yours faithfully, Nick Louca

Wow thanks for the swift response. We first started talking on March 28th of this year through Facebook messenger, and the history of our conversation is all there. Yes I am employed but I currently fall short of the £18,600 requirement. I have just returned from my trip yesterday, so as of today I am currently seeking a better paid job or a second job. I only earn a mere £14,400 per annum so by my calculations I. need approximately an extra £350 per month.

yes--make sure your gross income is at or above the requirement--£18,600---you need 6 months wage slips and bank statements to prove this. do all the hours you can. others do.

Any savings you have above £16,000 can be used for the shortfall in income, all is explained in the link I posted. I know 16k is a lot of money, just if you had that tucked away that's all :)

I wish I did have that kind of disposable money, unfortunately I have always had a low income but now I have a reason to work my socks off, I shall be going hell for leather to obtain the requirements to help me and my lady realise our dream.

Indeed I back this mantra! I will stop at nothing until I reach my desired outcome, which is ultimately permanent residence in the UK for my love. Am I right in assuming you have gone through this very process?

The majority of us here have been through the process yes, so we know exactly where you are now :)

It does get easier as you come to terms with what is required to achieve your goal of getting the loved one to the UK.

Unfortunately the UKVI is not as friendly as the British Filipino crowd, they are in some ways our enemy because they stand between us and our loved ones, they have at the very least a strong grip over us for the five year settlement visa process :(

Yeah I fully understand the application process is not a guarantee to me and my loved one fulfilling our dream. Hence why I am here today seeking as much knowledge on the subject that I can obtain. Thanks again though, I feel like I have an ally in you. By the way, excuse me for saying this but you have a pretty wife. Feel free to search me on Facebook if you are signed up, my profile picture is of me canoodling with my angel.

The European Route (Singh) is another alternative Nick see my current post in a (long) sentence

You marry, both go to another EU country (Ireland perhaps) with free entry for your wife, you work 3-4 months and then return to the UK (again for free) and your wife gets a 5 year residence card (no conditions) for £85 and then Permanent residence after five years

Timmers, so to clarify if I marry my fiancée in the Philippines this October, the visa we need to apply for to gain UK residency is the Family of a Settled Person Visa?

    Ok
Ok thanks for the advice, this alternative method could be a more viable option for someone in my predicament, i.e. someone with a lack of funds.
