Or what I should say is it is a more viable option for myself and my fiancée, should immigration deem our application for a UK visa unacceptable. Thanks for this gem of advice.

Yes it is, or the spouse visa as we call it here, we normally call it that just to shorten it, if your lady comes to the UK to get married then we call that the Fiance visa, again just to keep it short :)

Thanks for clearing this up. I did look at the Fiancée visa originally but since then our plans have changed, and we intend to marry in the Philippines to cut costs in order to save for our future. So I was unsure of our next move regarding the relevant visa, but you and other members have helped me greatly. I am sure I will be back soon to seek further answers from you kind people.

If you need any help regarding getting married in the Philippines there are many threads here that will help you, just search the forum. Again, there are certain requirements you have to put in place, its not just a case of turning up in the Philippines and getting married or I would have done just that :)

Sure I understand, I plan to throughly research every aspect of my impending marriage and subsequent visa application to give my fiancée the best possible chance of succeeding in her application. Do you mind me asking how you went about successfully obtaining a visa for your partner?

I did exactly the same as you are doing now Nick, joined here at BF after perusing the site for a while, used the information here along with other similar sites so I had a good cross section of views and information to take forward into the application process. The link that I posted earlier is where I started and its where I point people like your good self when they are starting out on the visa trail, I found the link extremely helpful and it gets you thinking the right way. The visa application is quite straight forward but it needs to be done correctly with attention to detail, especially the financial section, any mistakes there and you can easily have the visa declined, its all about giving the right documentation to the UKVI,

If you have any specific questions about the process then someone here will help you, everyone chips in as you will see in the future.

    Hi and welcome, Nick.
If you don't want to go down the Surrinder Singh route, you will have to try to get a second job or look for a new job to get you over the financial hurdle.

Hi aposhark, thanks for the welcome and the message. Yeah I am currently looking at jobs as we speak. Ideally we want to apply for a Spouse Visa but Surinder Singh route is my contingency plan.
