Hubby got a second hand ipad 4 on eBay more than a year ago. He bought it because he thought it could be fixed in the Philippines. I went to Greenhills twice but the geeks there didn't have the software to bypass the icloud. But someone offered to fix it but the fee was far more than the price hubby paid for.

When I checked his eBay purchase history, I noticed that the seller mentioned that it's for spare parts only... LOL..

Hubby has two choices now, either to sell it for parts only or throw it ..lol...

How I wish there's geek here who can help me bypass the icloud. :).

Sorry. It's an icloud locked ipad. The ipad couldn't be accessed because it's associated with someone else's Apple ID and password.

I signed out of my icloud just a few days ago. Quite easy to do if that is what you want to do. Just go into Settings, where you will find icloud settings.

Thank you. I hope @oss can give me some advice on what to do. The iPad is waiting for a geek to bypass the icloud activation lock as the seller on eBay is no longer active....Hubby's other option is to throw it away. He waisted more than a hundred quid for this.

It was supposed to be a birthday present to someone in the Philippines but it turned into a saga. I didn't realize that the one he bought was icloud locked.

Maybe you should consider in selling it for parts than throwing it away. I'm thinking it will costs you more on fixing it. :D

    It could be stolen ??

Hence why its locked out ?? and with the seller disappearing from Fleabay ??

Can you not do a factory reset and then associate your own iTunes account with the iPad?

Don't have my iPad with me, only my Mac Book.
Try this......Go to Settings, iCloud, hit sign out.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but if its locked out by the original user how are you going to get past the front screen to get to the settings??

    I can't do factory reset.

The seller was a teenager and he used his mother's eBay account according to hubby as he tried contacting them before.

I think this iPad must be stolen or the naughty seller set it on 'lost' mode status and claim insurance if it was included in ther insurance policy... lol..:)

It would be impossible to bypass it unless a super geek will do it.

It can never reset until you know the password. Apple is quite tricky on this.

Months ago, I forgot my apple password. Good thing they have this feature of answering security questions so you can retrieve your account back. Patven can't do this since it's owned by a different person meaning different email which she can't access.

Apple stores can't fix this -- at least that's what a friend told me and I'm not certain if this is correct. Someone told me that individual accounts are somewhat 'encrypted' that Apple staffs won't be able to quickly bypass to fix this issue. I'm not 100 certain on this and I can be wrong. I can say Apple has high security measures but I can't say it can't be hacked. If there's a will, there's a way. Hope there is still a solution on this problem.

I agree. And I think it depends on the ios version as well like 7.0 up.

My old iPhone 5 was stolen in Quezon City last year and the icloud/apple id was bypassed immediately by the geeks. If I rushed to the internet shop immediately after I saw my apartment being ransacked, I could have located the thief through 'locate my iphone' feature but it was too late :(..You can't really think properly when you're in a panic mode .
