Is this some wishful thinking on your part???

I would rather have Jeremy keep on causing wholesale untold damage to Labour than speculate on who may succeed him.........

Not it isn't: there really is a market for who'll take over the Labour Party after the General Election. The odds I quoted are the averages of all the bookmakers who are covering that market. If the Corbynistas have anything to do with it, it'll be a contest between McDonnell and Lewis.

Alas no; he's retiring from front-line politics.

He's the wrong colour, he will never be accepted by the Labour electorate :)

My money would go on David Miliband with a punt on a rank outsider Tony Blair

    Very astute!!

Miliband has, apparently, been phoning around looking for a safe Labour seat whilst Blair is itching to get back but may have to start a new party to realise his ambition; he'll likely try to steal Lib Dem support,

I'd prefer Miliband to Blair, Blair in my opinion has too much baggage foe your average Labour voter to stomach.

I always thought David M a better candidate than his brother but David didn't get the unions behind him.
Blair might be seen as a steady the ship leader with a mandate to groom his successor

I always thought he was a better candidate too and I was surprised when he was pushed out.

One thing for sure, it would be interesting to see Blair back but I still cannot see it, but I've been wrong before :)

The question with labour is who have they got strong enough to compete with Mrs May,keep the labour party in check and reunite it, keep a harness on the unions and run the country? Erm mm no one

Strange how female Tory leaders are much stronger than their male counterparts: the lionesses Thatcher and May as against the wimps Heath, Major and Cameron.

He would be a lot better in opposition than he would ever be Prime Minister.

The last thing Theresa Mayhem wanted was to fight a GE with a new labour leader. This isn't what is good for the UK, or even Brexit. This is what is good for the Tories. I have no sympathy with Labour either. They've had every opportunity to replace Corbyn and failed. We now have a marxist opposition that even the communists support. We need a new party, a new centre ground that does not look left or right. Unfortunately its too easy to forget that some of the main candidates were also in Brown's catastrophic cabinet in 2008.

I agree, a new leader is required, the only people that do not realise that are the JC supporters, with Labour moving so far to the left the Tories have moved into the centre to fill the void. It is very difficult to see where the new Labour leader will come from, from a personal point of view no one has caught my eye.

I feel a little sorry for JC but that in itself tells me there is something badly wrong with the Labour leadership, difficult to see them moving on from the JC era anytime soon which is not good for the country.

We must have a different view of what the centre ground is because that's where I am but I'm buggered if I can see any tories here.

Tony Blair came out of nowhere so I am sure there is someone but not whilst they have members choosing leaders. Stahmer looks okay as an interim before the next election in 2022. By then no one will have to worry about Scottish votes either, or even NI.

The last time Labour got into this sort of a mess I had a Labour party card in my wallet. I departed with the formation of the SDP, but I suspect that the atmosphere then and now might be a bit similar.

One factor that makes most sitting members of the Parliamentary Labour Party quite happy about this election is that it comes before Momentum have been able to organise properly in most of the constituency parties.

Sitting Labour MPs are therefore looking at the happy prospect of five years more without mandatory re-selection (call that de-selection). There are plenty of Labour MPs sitting on gigantic majorities and they will be back, happy enough, on June the 9th.
