What a journey Shengsei! You deserve a medal. My wife was spoiled as I met her in Schipol airport Amsterdam as she disembarked from her flight from Manila, just a few strides from the aircraft door. She had asked me to collect her in Manila but I had work commitments so Schipol it was. I then flew with her into Manchester. I was in Lancaster the other day. I often pass through on the way to catch the ferry. I stopped off for some bits and pieces before I caught the ferry on this occasion. It seemed a nice town.
WELCOME TO ENGLAND, BUT I THINK HIS DAD'S WORDS IS SOMETHING YOU MUST BE AWARE!!! LOL just kidding, but REALLY , what you did is terrible, i will never think doing that, that's just too much for you, really i will not do that! HAVE A GREAT LIFE, ENJOY!
Congratulations and well done. My wife still won't get on a bus on her own after 11 yrs here let alone get on the london underground within an hour of getting into the country.
My husband keeps taking me to places like Cheltenham and Bristol despite of me keeping on insisting that I can manage to go alone. He will never get enough of me........ yet...
My wife hasn't had enough of me yet either but I feel the day is dawning And whilst I remember Anne, we had a couple of my mother in laws friends round last night who are both IC nurses, they said that 75% of nurses in intensive care in the Bradford hospital they work are Filipinos. They also said that Filipino nurses are the first choice of the NHS because of their English skills compared with other European countries. They also mentioned that the NHS does not recruit anymore in the Philippines because of the overall cost, so hopefully we will see you nursing away soon.
Thanks for the update, Timmers. I got about 3 exams to take for registering in NMC. Anyway, it is true NHS highly considers Filipinos and care homes as well..
Even though other European and non European nurses get the level 7 English certificate just like Filipino nurses do, Filipino English is regarded as being much clearer and easier to understand which I'm sure we can all vouch for here. It still niggles me that Filipinos have to pass an English test for the visa (I understand for nursing), as you know it causes a lot of bother, you only have to look at the amount of posts regarding English Tests on this forum.
At first, I didn't know that the Philippines is the 3rd largest English-speaking country in the world. I saw this info in the Philippine Embassy website.
my lady is a qualified midwife in the filis--shes hoping to re-train here ( adaptation ) if ever she gets here. as far as travel--shes a real adventurer. been to lots of places in the UK.
That would be great if she could re-train here bigmac, a really worthwhile job and lots of coins of the Realm
yes--i said i would support her while re-training--takes about a year she says. i dont mind re-locating if needs be.
Certainly worth it all round, a year as you very well know is not a long time, especially when a really good job is at the end of it.
Not sure how/where they based it. But here's the list of the top ten largest English-speaking countries found in this site http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with-most-english-language-speaker-map.html 1. United States 2. India 3. Philippines 4. Nigeria 5. United Kingdom 6. Germany 7. Canada 8. France 9. Australia 10. Italy
