Personally, yes. One thing we need to prepare for. One of the tests is assimilation, which comes last. The examinees will be in a room as if they are working in an actual caring scenario. Medical equipment and dummies are to be used. There is also another test which is an equivalent of CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) in the United States. I'm sure Mrs. Timmers knows CGFNS. One of the things I regret is leaving all my Nursing books back home
I'm sure it will work out for you Anne, if you join the NHS you will earn a good salary with career progression, good pension and generous maternity leave should you require it . Probably true to say that working in a nursing home would be less rewarding financially but equally as rewarding if you enjoy caring for the elderly. I really hope the missus doesn't put me in a home when I get older
Nah. I'm sure your loved one will be more than happy to take care of you. The NHS Open Day I attended in Cheltenham was a good opportunity especially for us overseas-trained nurses. The only downside is the long process for us to be registered in NMC. I enjoy dealing with children more than adults to be honest. Been a Paediatric ICU nurse for 2.5 years but now I feel my brain is a lil bit rusty in the medical environment coz I haven't been working as a nurse since 2011! Got a few volunteer jobs though but it's not the same as a hospital set-up.
Actually they are! I read quite recently that several hospital trusts were currently recruiting in Manila, Cebu and Davao and that they had over 500 vacancies to fill.
