Well, I'll say what I probably said the first time you mentioned you had seen Elvis, I'm jealous :)

Oh God, I would have loved to have seen him live in concert, you're a lucky chap.

If I'd been a few years older I would have definitely seen him live, I was only 17 when he died but was well into his music even then having had three older brothers who were Teddy Boys.

The music that could be heard at that time in our household was Rockabilly, Elvis, Jerry Lee, Eddie Cochran, Little Richard, Gene Vincent, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry and of course Buddy Holly amongst others.

Where did our hair go to?
Maybe we should dig out some photos of ourselves before we had chrome domes ;)
My wife said she would not have been interested in me if I had long hair......I just tell her she is from a different generation

Well I must say I'm enjoying this topic. I haven't felt so young in ages!!

Anyway, old photos with hair? Yup, I can do that - providing this actually works!! It's showing on my computer anyway.

I'm wondering how many of us on here share our musical interests with our wives. My and my wife go to a lot of concerts together and enjoy both older and new music.

This weekend just gone we were down in Brighton watching Years and Years with my kids. They are one of the biggest bands in the UK right now, but something inside me is saying that a lot of people here won't know who they are :)

I still like old music from when was younger. My all time favourite band would probably be Rush, but I like to move on and discover newer stuff all the time as well. No point getting stuck too much in the past.

Another couple of gigs we've got lined up are The Waterboys and Def Leppard/Whitesnake - so we're both happy watchong bands old and young.

My wife loves Whitesnake and The Scorpions - which are more my era - even though she's still in her twenties. We saw The Scorpions too earlier this year at a Festival in Maidstone.

But we've seen lots of people together. The first gig we went to together was Kean Cipriano, in Manila whil I was there. Since she's moved here we've been to many, and I've had no qualms at all with seeing the likes of Katy Perry and Beyonce despite my NWOBHM past!!

That's our ideal weekend. Book tickets to a gig. Book a hotel nearby. And head off for the weekend.

    Love it.

Very true. as a couple we enjoy the same musical interests. Quite an eclectic taste we both have too.
Music is important to us both.

    What year Graham?

My shot was round about 76-77, the badge I was wearing in that photo was not CND or anything like that, it was a Jodrell Bank radio telescope badge, mad scientist even back then :D

Well Ana has expanded my tastes, I've left a lot of the music of my youth behind, the formative stuff like that posted earlier in this thread will be with us forever but a lot of the teen and late teen years is stuff that I got tired of.

I've always retained a love of folk music, I attended a folk club for many many years and saw so many great unknown bands, that is probably more core to my tastes than anything these days.

Me I like anything that is intrinsically good, that means I have no specific genre that I follow, I just like sounds that to me sound good. A big problem these days is that I can tell you I like something but I haven't a clue who they actually are.

I have always had a great love the classics i.e. classical music, and from that I love good keyboard stuff, Greenslade was a fav and still is.

Ana and me, well yeah when we go out and listen to a band in Manila and most of the time I am happy to be there and be listening, she is an 80's girl musically but has a love of complex Spanish dance music, her father was a choreographer and taught her to dance and she is very good, she loves Latin dancing.

However she is also very fond of various American metal bands, most of which I like too but couldn't give you a name easily :)

We are both easy going on musical taste which helps a lot.

Music is very important to me and also to my wife.......Except.....
We both hate each other's music.
I loathe pop music and my wife says "what's that noise" when I play music.
    We're doomed :( :lol::geek:

That was taken in 1981 in Amesbury High Street, when I went to the Stonehenge Festival.

We very lucky here in Davao City in that we have quite a decent sized venue where live bands play every night.
Mostly it's a good night out. Foodwise not though.

Anyone visiting take a peek to MTS (Matina Town Square)

To be honest I've always avoided Jollibee since the first time I experience it many years ago.

I even avoid McDonalds too the taste and quality just doesn't match the asking price.
If was P10 a pop I'd still refuse.

MTS has quite a few food offerings and to be fair I sampled most. BBQ Boss does a pretty nice Davao Express at a price and there's another place whose name escapes me directly opposite BBQ Boss who do a half decent Malasugi Kinilaw. Again at a price ( too high IMO)

I can vouch for the bands ( especially Naughty Notes) and I can vouch for the buckets of ice cold beer. The blue margaritas not.

    MTS is for music
Oh and for fun, beer and observing the behaviour of students with money and older Americans with gf's :D

    No offence intended

I know this is primarily for yesteryear music but I have recently seen what must be one of the top music videos. I'm not so keen on the actual music but the video is a great compilation of two freedivers holding their breath for up to six minutes for the shooting of the video.

Hello! May I join this thread? :)

I'm happy to share that I like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Beatles. I feel happy with old songs. Maybe I'm an old soul. Haha!
Recently, I have been listening to this band called Postmodern Jukebox. They take pop music back in time. I like their music, it sounds like 50s or 60s. I hope you check them on Youtube. :like::D

It's a while since we've been there but we pass it often and is always heaving particularly during the academic year. A popular spot for sure. My wife's preferred location is the pool bar/restaurant area of the Marco Polo where, on weekends, there's usually one or two ABS-CBN starlets.

And ah yes, our colonial cousins and their dress sense - or lack thereof - visiting their young ladies. I tend to shy away from them and pretend to be Polish if any approach and try to engage me in conversation. There's quite a contingent of Dutch and German expats, some of whom are "sunbirds" and over-winter here, others live here full time. They seem to be a more agreeable species :D
