I quite like cafe Havana, their food is pretty good but you do have to be careful at night there because of what my wife calls "the ghosts". Where is Murphy's? We went upstairs to the oz steakhouse bar as well across from the Intercontinetal hotel as well. It was ok but I'm in no rush to go back to be honest. Might have to search out this "prince of Wales" pub next time though as well.

I will stick to Murphy's, Methersgate. It's my new haunt. Besides I'm trying to avoid Salcedo because that's where the ex frequents (he lives in that area). I was there last night; had 2 Stellas while sitting on a ledge overlooking the very peaceful Esteban street. Very nice place to wind down after a busy week.

I go to a 'real pub' in Alabang called the Union Jack Tavern. It is owned by an Englishman (David) who is well known for hairdressing salons which you will find all over the Philippines.
The food in my opinion is the closed you will get to authentic British grub.
There is a quiz night every Wednesday and we sometimes have a lock-in ;)

Cool beans, oss! He was way before my time (LOL) but he's one of the greats of OPM.

Been a while since I last went to Hard Rock, give or take a couple of years? Would be nice to drop by sometime soon but again, I'm kind of wary that it might not be too kind on single ladies who just want time alone. Maybe when I find someone to drag here. ^_^

Murphy's is at the corner of Rufino and Esteban in Legaspi Village.

Nice one, alfie. Hmm Alabang is just too far from where I live/work (work in Makati, live in QC) but will find the time to check this place out. I hear they have quiz nights too at Murphy's, Tuesdays if I'm not mistaken, but never managed to join in one yet.

I've seen that place on the net but didn't realise it was still going/ My wife uses Davids salon a lot, I wonder if I can get a free pint?

I like Cafe Havana too, it's safe enough at night if you are in company, Ana loves Latin or ballroom dancing and many of the regulars at Cafe Havana are truly superb dancers, Ana's tatay was a choreographer and superb dancer, he taught Ana how to dance and she is pretty amazing too.

There used to be another Cafe Havana down on the corner of Remedios Circle opposite the Korean restaurant, we used to got there a lot when we lived in Malate, there was also a great acoustic bar, one floor up, across the road from where the Library used to be, that place was a nice proper pub with really good folk music.

And while the Library is more of a night club it's also good for a laugh, if you are a masochist and want to have lots of cash extorted from you by the performers :D

    Still going strong.
If David is around you can always ask, however he is a tight northerner :p

Pepe Smith opened for the Beatles; I was told that, didn't believe it, and looked it up; it's true. He must be older than Mick Jagger.

Younger than Jagger or Richards actually, 66 going on 67, looks about 87 in person.

Although he was sitting alone in that picture I posted, within a minute or so there were loads of people around him and a couple of staff asking him to sign a portrait that had been hanging on the wall through in the main auditorium.

Looks like he was 18 or 19 when they opened for the Beatles, he started in his first band aged 11.

It is a shame but here also in the UK, even today in this day and age, it is generally not seen as acceptable for a lady to go to the pub on her own, on the other hand guys walk in to pubs all the time, I go to the pub to read and no one would think anything of it except that they think I am strange sitting reading a book in the corner, but a girl walking in on their own is frowned upon.
