I'm not an expert at anything, i'm afraid life has been a hard game in some ways as the years i should have been making a life as a young guy were spent in illness. So it's not looking much like i can make anything happen after all really. But i'll keep looking for ways for the time being.

Your in a better position than myself if it's any help to you
Thanks for that. I'll be honest though, i have 10 grand in bank, most i ever had. If i can't get work i will loose the farm cottage i rent so i really am in no position to go a holiday. I am not one for putting personal info online as a rule, but i'm kinda worried right now. I haven't met her in person but she is such a nice humble soul. Been video calls every weekend nearly for a year. She is a gem. And right now i feel pretty bad as i have been trying to find a way but it seems less and less likely as time goes on that i can make something happen. It's all a bit overwhelming at the moment, and i appreciate all you guys input....i will try to reply to you messages, but if i don't it's not that i don't appreciate, it's just i'm kinda feeling overloaded with worry at the moment.

I would love a holiday, but it would be a significant chunk out of a small pot and i simply can't justify it unfortunately.

Your in a better position than myself if it's any help to you, and i don't say that in any way to lessen your situatiin buddy. I know we all have issues and they are relative to our circumstances and personal goals /expetations excetera.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you of course, it is a very cut throat world.

I hope you can get yourself to the Philippines, and though i kind of don't know why you'd want a flat in Scotland (lol) i hope that can be realised too.

Have you considered the Open University or something to upskill in an area of interest? I just finished a course my experience was pretty good. I study remote while working full time all online.

Yeah i have considered the OU mate, but to be honest i struggle with energy, and keeping a roof over head is priority. Maybe i can look at it again though. I could see if i could find out what areas of employment are big in the Philippines and find a way through maybe.... but as mentioned previously, i think my age (53 in march) is against me.

I would watch the sites over the next few months see whats about, see what you need to do to fulfill the application process, many questions to be asked and answered, think through is it right for you, a new culture, language barriers, health cover, visas to work accommodation etc etc. Its your life, risk and burn, risk and regret, risk and prosper in health and mind (not money your in the Philippines)

Yeah, it's allot. Good advice there.

As a matter of interest, are there ANY jabs that are mandatory to go visit in the Philippines?

Because if there are, then it's a big problem.

I think they are just to give an idea of the kinds of work that is out there, and the type of skills that are being looked for.
