You do get the feeling that all is not being revealed, not good for the families awaiting news of loved ones. Seems a different little twist is revealed every time I turn the news on.

I am going to stick up for Malaysia.

It seems to me that what the Malaysians have done has been to wait until the FAA*, the NTSB* and the AAIB** have all concurred with each other and with the Malaysian authorities before saying anything, and to me that seems thoroughly sensible. To do otherwise would be to risk having to retract a statement. Given the inflamed sensitivities on the Chinese side, better safe than sorry.

    * US Federal Aviation Authority and National Transportation Safety Board - the aircraft was built in Seattle

** UK Air Accident Investigation Branch - the engines were built in Derby.

    So it was "pirates"?

I don't know, John. The Malaysian Government have said that this was the result of human action, but whether hijackers, the Captain or the co-pilot is not something that we can say yet, and since the cockpit voice recorder only holds the last two hours of anything, it the plane was flown straight and level on silence for more than two hours the CVR tape will be blank, and we may never know.

There is a chance I guess, that the crew, the passengers and or the plane itself might "surface" at some point...

From the available information, I agree.

Just hope that they are able to resolve the situation fairly soon.

If they have made a secret landing somewhere it will make a good film or documentary that's for sure.

Like Dave said, it really does need sorting soon.

How long did it take them to find the Air France plane that crashed in the Atlantic a few years back? I think that was months.

Wreckage was found floating after a few days; it was two years before they were able to find the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder and find out what happened.

And after 2 years they lifted the flight information off the flight recorder. I watched a documentary the other week on what happened, pilot error big time, just goes to show how pilots and crew can easily be mislead once the instruments start to fail. At least the relatives got their closure even though many bodies were not found

Wouldn't mind a forced landing on that island as long as I had a couple of Filipinas to keep me company

    I'll sign up for that!!

If the plane has gone down and it was due to hijack etc you'd have thought that a pre-recorded video or something would've been released by those or the group responsible.

There is a school of thought that the plane has been pirated for its payload....
