Hi, I'm a male British citizen living in the UK married to a Filipino Naional (14 Febuary this year in the Philippines). My wife, currently living in the Philippines, has just taken the IELTS CEFR A1 level exam and is awaiting the results... next is to apply for her passport and then a UK Spouse Entry Visa... Hopefully we can be together again early new year. Keith
Thanks HaloHalo... will do. My wife is very concerned as she seems to think that she has failed the exam. Lol... she says she answered incorrectly the questions on the recording, but apart from that she feels it went OK. I don't know how they decide pass or fail, but hopefully if she was able to demonstrate the ability to communicate fairly well in English that will be sufficient, despite her concerns.
we are a friendly bunch here Keith--are you all up together with the sponsorship side of things? ask anything you like on here--we are all on a learning curve.
Hi Welcome fellow Keith Amazingly we both share the same wedding anniversary as well ours was 14th Feb 2011 and impossible to forget
Hi bigmac... we are taking things one step at a time. IELTS CEFR A1 exam, passport and then UK Souse Entry Visa... I have been looking at the sponsorship requirements and they do seem to be very 'strict'.
yes--you have to get them exactly right--if youre not 100% sure---just ask on here--several others about to apply too. the fact that you married recently will be of great interest to others about to tie the knot. did you take a CNI from your local registry office with you---or didnt you need one ?
The good thing is that if you fail the exam, it can be resat until it is passed. My wife thought she had failed too. But she hadnt. What our Filipinas dont always realise is that they are one jump ahead of many of their SE Asia cousins, when it comes to English.
Hi everybody... My wife passed her English A1 exam, despite being certain that she had failed Lol... Next step is to get her passport and then to book an appointment for a TB test in Manila... it seems that a passport is the primary requirement for booking a TB appointment and that the International Organisation for Immigration Medical Centre in Manila is the only place in the Philippines that is TB Testing approved by the UK gov. I will move on to the other sections now i.e. visas and immigration in the first instance.
Regarding what to take with you for identification is in the attached, https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...pines/tuberculosis-testing-in-the-philippines
One thing I just noticed when perusing the Government TB Centre information is that their busiest time is between July and October because of UK student visa applications, makes me wonder then if these times will also be the busiest times for visa applications.
i was horrified to discover i get charged for sending an icon in a text--like sending a photo. i'm with tesco / o2
I think if you send a smilie in an SMS that the SMS gets converted to an MMS, with rather expensive charges.
Welcome to the forum Keith. I'm sure the time will go quicker than you think. Like you, I married in the Phils after 4 years apart and my awawa visa has just been granted this week so we are on a high. You might want to double-check the details on her birth certificate before you apply for the passport. In my case, the birth certificate was slightly wrong and we had to get it corrected first. The evidential requirements in appendix FM-SE must be adhered to exactly. If you haven't already, I suggest that you sign onto getting paper bank statements (if you haven't already) and keep them all. It will make things easier. Good luck.
I agree with getting paper bank statements. I really started requesting them too late and had to pay my bank £5 to get back copies posted to me.
