If you are a nurse, all you need is to pass the very important ielts and at least 2 yrs work experience. Once you are hired (make sure it is directly by nhs trust/hospital not by any agency sisnce they will take a cut from your future salary) you dont even have to pay for any visa or flights to the uk.

So start securing the ielts first and you are good to go.

Thank you! The first step is meeting the required score for the IELTS. Afterwards, it is so easy to find an agency here that recruits nurses to the UK. As what I have mentioned in my previous post, finding a nursing job in the UK is my last option since most of the jobs being offered are in England and we can hardly find ones in Scotland so if I get a job in England, I will rarely see my boyfriend who lives in Scotland. That is why I asked for some advice here to know if I have other options to get to the UK other than a working visa.

if you are offered a job in england--grab it ! scotland isnt that far--by air. you could see each other once a month or so--to begin with.

Yes that's true , especially if you can find a post in the north of England .
At least that would be a good start .

Yes, that is an option we're considering if there is no other way for me to get a visa to visit him.

Thank you so much! It is quite helpful with the visa application process. But my main problem is how I can prove my ties to my country especially now that I quit my job before getting a tourist visa.

Here's a thought, why not turn this completely around and try and arrange for some interviews in the UK. You might get a letter from a UK hospital as an invitation

I haven't thought about that. Maybe, that could work out. I'll try to research on that as most hospitals in the UK That recruit nurses here in the Philippines use an agency. But your suggestion might work.

Your suggestion gave me an idea. For me to be able to work in the UK as a nurse, I have to get the required score for the IELTS. If i explain in a letter my plans of working in the UK, indicate that I am enrolled in a review center for the IELTS and say that I've booked an exam date to take the IELTS in my country, would that be considered as enough reason to come home?

I could be wrong but I cannot imagine any UK hospital interviewing you before you've passed the IELTS test ...

Yes. That is why instead of getting an interview for a hospital, I'll book an exam foe IELTS first and enroll myself in a review center to help me prepare for it. So when I apply for a tourist visa, I will indicate in my letter that I am planning to apply for a nursing job in the UK and that I have booked an exam date to take the IELTS so I have to come home for that.
Would the ECO see that as a good reason for me to come home?

Not really. If you were to overstay then the IELTS is irrelevant. If you have the correct IELTS and include your nursing qualifications then they may think differently

    Yes
I will book the academic one and I am planning to pass my license and my certificate of employment for my previous job.

There are plenty of jobs in the NHS, and I wanted my partner to work in my town, eventually I found the Agency dealing with this, the hospital had interviewed 300 nurses and offered them jobs, as long as they passed the IELTS, CBT and registered with the NMC. My partner passed the IELTS, and then passed the CBT, she is now trying to get the documents that they require.

All the Scottish hospitals want nurses, passing the IELTS took my gf three goes - the CBT one go - you need the blueprint - can be got from allnurses.com

    Thank you!

Did your girlfriend take the IELTS and CBT in her home country? I am curious if she was able to register with the NMC despite not having an employer or did you look for one after she took her IELTS and CBT?
