Ping phoned my mrs, a couple of days ago, apparently she went gallivanting around europe with her old mate from Singapore, Judith.
We saw her at Ling Lings some time ago. Despite the hardships, she hasn't lost the spark. resilient... Lots happier since she left Denbigh.

My son Alex who is half Filipino speaks Tagalog with a broad English accent. When we are speaking English, nobody can tell us apart on the phone, so I dare say my English accent is worse, but I notice his!

I was in Liverpool at the weekend. Had to listen for a little while to realise it was a polish guy with a scouse accent, quite strange :)

According to goss on the grapevine, Iain and Louella (remember them from the dark side?) have split up, and he's back in Philippines looking for a replacement....

27 years ago I did know one, but she is 67 now. Sadly the burden of caring for her 93 year old mother has fallen on her.

I hope he ain't going to ask the new one to be reimbursed of the visa and flights costs like he did on Louella... Chances are... he will....
    What a T"""pot he was.
She is much better off without him.

I think if you acquire a new accent naturally as an adult, it shows you have fully embraced your new life. What I can't stand are those who adopt new accents for career purposes. I am thinking Maggie Thatcher here and even 'Posh' Spice sounds a lot posher than she used to.

When I went to The Philippines in 2009 I got engaged to a lady who had a friend. That friend was at the centre of the super typhoon Yolanda but she got word to her sister (now my wife) who contacted me. The lady I had been engaged to had already married someone else 11 months before Yolanda, without telling me.
