The new rules set out in the article below could affect our beloved Filipino NHS workers; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-33201189
Saw it on the news this morning looks like the nurses will be heading home or looking for husbands. It's mad we have a shortage of nurses and now we send them home. Must be some logic in it that I can't see being a simple gorilla
My wife summed this up well this morning when we saw this on the news. To paraphrase, she said: "Bloody English need immigrants to work in their care homes anyway, because they can't be bothered to look after their parents themselves." This is another idiotic move by the Tories in their desperate attempt to quote figures. The answer if they want to do this stupid idea, I guess, is to pay nurses more! That won't happen though.
Its crazy, its the exact migration we need, the government seems to be doing everything possible to control non EU migration because they have their hands tied on EU migration into the UK
What scares me is the way they just introduce new laws whenever they feel like it. What if they extend this rule to spouses? I guess we are never safe :/
If that was the case then the vast majority would be heading home, cant see many Filipinos earning over 35k can you?
I don't think the rule is set it stone yet, maybe they are just testing the water and seeing what reaction they get, you know how well NHS workers are supported by the British public.
Exactly. But that's what they want, right? For them all to go back. We have to live our whole lives knowing they "could" be deported on some ridiculous nonsense government law.
I do not believe the Government would ever get to the stage of sending people back, making it more difficult for people from outside the EU to settle here seems to be their game. Its easier for the Government to stop people coming here by enforcing more restrictions but its more difficult to send people back from where they came. I think we will both look back in a few years time and thank God that we got the loved ones into the UK when we did, its only going to get more difficult for sure.
I completely agree, or I did until this morning. I never thought they would deport people who are settled here. But that's exactly what they are proposing. People who have been here for 6 years - that's a long time! People settled in jobs, relationships, families - being deported. It's disgusting, and I can see them doing the same with spouses - what's the difference, really? They clearly couldn't care less about these people's personal circumstances.
Ironically this could be true, yet at the time the new rules made us think we were having a tougher deal.
It is making me start to wonder how far they will go, the UK Government needs to turn their guns on EU immigration and give us a little respite.
Probably the opposite Lisa, they now think that their immigration policies have been rubber stamped by the British Public.
