Hi guys! I am new here...I am so glad to know that theres a site like this one. It would be a great help for all aspirants filipino fiancee or spouses. Sooner I will ask questions here...
I am engaged with a british guy. just few days ago. He is living and working in London, and I am here in the Philippines. He already bought engagement ring for me, he is asking me, what is the safest way he can send it? did anyone who had this experienced? fiance sent an engagement ring to her? kindly pls. let me know what is the safest airfreight company to use? I heard I need to pay the taxes here, and it depends on the value of the ring. Even he already paid the airfreight charges from UK. I am so quite hesitant to be honest, coz of the many incidents happening now in customs. I am afraid it will get loss or goes to the hand of someone!! Any suggestions are appreciated...

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Personally I would not trust a valuable item like that to get through your customs safely, he would be better to come out personally and give it to you.

    Agree 100%.

If he cares, he should put it on your finger personally, and not by proxy.....

Welcome to British Filipino young lady, it would be much more of an event if your loved one placed the ring on your finger in the Philippines, worth waiting for his next trip I'd say.

A ring received in the post isn't very romantic after all :)

    "Its in the post"

    Not romantic at all.

He needs to fly across and put it on your finger himself.

Tell him you want to wait.

Thx for the warm welcome! next year would be his first visit here in the Philippines.
We met online 2012, the relationship went on and off. Many circumstances happened on him. He planned to go here on summer.hmmm..I am thinking much better to see the ring on photos for now and let him bring it.

Certainly I wouldn't advise sending the ring by courier as there are very real security concerns when sending valuable items to the Philippines. You could also be asked to pay customs duty on delivery.
Besides I would also echo the sentiments expressed by other members of this forum. Much better he presents it to you in person:)!

This is the part that doesn't sit right with me............
Online chatting since 2012, and even admitting to all sorts of catastrophes happening to him over the years........ I am sure that at least 10 days for travel could have been found..

Time for some tough questions............. I reckon....

Unfortunately my instincts concur with Aromulus. Surely someone who is genuinely serious in their intentions would have managed to find some time during the last three years to jump on a plane and come to the Philippines. Of course I don't know any of the details so I concede that I could be totally wrong but in my experience people invariably find time to do the things that are important to them and excuses for not doing the things that aren't...

I agree, love doesn't wait three years for a meeting, if you're in love then you will do anything in your power to meet as soon as possible.

Hopefully we are wrong in our observations :)

A thought suddenly occurred to me....... A memory of something I heard of before............

If anybody contacts you, in regard of having a parcel delivered to your door, in exchange for a Western Union "overdue custom's tax" payment, just tell them to return to sender, you are not interested....
I sincerely hope I am wrong...........
    But be careful.................

K and I met seven times between 2012 and 2015. But in any case, never send jewellery through the mail. Or by courier.

Hi Jeamad, welcome aboard British Filipino :welcome:

Hope you read the responses you already received.

Don't agree to having any valuables sent by mail or courier.

On a personal level, how can you get engaged to someone you've never actually met ?
Sorry if that sounds harsh and yes I do know many couples who did exactly that.
Just to mention I spent the last 2 years of my life in UK dedicated to helping out many Filipinas who found themselves in unpleasant circumstances by not really knowing their Fiances/Spouses.

    These things happen.

I agree with everyone here. You should meet him first. Get to know him personally. No need to rush.

So since he paid already has he now sent the ring by air freight ?
Which company did he use to send the package ?
Or is it a case of he's asking how to send ?
