Croatia have had some good sides in recent years. Of course moreso Brazil. I am just not up to speed on the state of the current sides. Anyone remember Davor Sukar? What a cracking player he was. I saw him live at Old Trafford in Euro 96 against Germany. Scored with a deft bit of footwork. What a chip over Peter Schmeichel against the Danes. Went on to win the Golden Boot in the World Cup 1998.
Looking forward to the World Cup, although I'm offshore at the moment with lots and lots of Scottish chaps, just hoping they let me watch the England game on Saturday , of course they will as they will all be tucked up in bed by the start of the game. Come on England !!
I am totally underwhelmed with this World Cup and it hasn't even kicked off yet. After so many disappointing tournaments for England, I have lost interest this time for the first time. There are so many prima donnas on such high pay who have never really given 100% for England as they used to many years ago. I don't think we (England) will progress from the group, although I hope the Everton players show good account of themselves. I am excited about next season in the premier league though due to the wonderful play that Roberto Martinez had Everton playing last season in his first year as manager.
You're right John, anyone but England and they are almost good at hiding their dislike for our team and country, I can just tell they are dying to see us lose. By the way, watched the opening ceromony earlier and thought it was a real poor show, lets hope the football is more fun to watch. I have been working in Brazil during a World Cup there and the atmosphere is absolutely electric in the local bars and on the streets.

The guys on here actually bring "anyone but england" t-shirts to wear!! I'm going to try to get something suitable printed up for the independence vote in september in retaliation. I agree with you about players not giving 100%, I think that was pretty evident last time. I think most of the regular international players thought they deserved to wear the shirt. It should be an honour to represent your country not a given right. They're paid well over the odds and should put the effort in at all stages. The same was happening with the established guard in the rugby as well. Hopefully this year will be different, there are lots of new young players that have the right attitude to want to impress and rightly consider it an honuor and privilage to represent the country. If we get to the quarters we've done well.
Well I hope you all enjoy your footie, me I can't stand it sorry but I really do fit the stereotype techie nerd role rather too well. I will say this though, I do regret that so many of my countrymen express this childish crabby chip on their shoulder 'anyone but England' attitude every time this tournament comes round, it is really time for these particular Scots to grow up and realise what it really takes to be independent adults instead of acting like nasty little children.

I overheard one narrow minded plank (an insult to the plank at that) saying he hoped Iran would beat the English, but he'll be down the pub anyway whoever beats England.
