That is the American Heart Association study?
It`s dated Jan,2018 and pretty sure the study reported on in the mail was completed in September.

    Yes.

It is unlikely they did the study themselves they are a publisher for members as far as I can see but these members are proper research groups, there are precedents going back centuries for research publication groups, the Royal Society being one.

The JAHA is the Journal of the American Heart Association https://www.ahajournals.org/journal/jaha

The link I posted earlier is just one of the studies that I can find that reference research on this topic in that site try this link which is one level up from the article I originally linked to https://www.ahajournals.org/action/doSearch?AllField=vaping

You edited your post, the papers (news media) catch up with this much later than the actual peer reviewed published papers, the subject matter is the same and the references in the MSM as you like to call them all point back to JAHA.

If I tried hard enough I could probably find a reference in my favourite journal the New Scientist (NS)

This kind of research rarely receives public attention in the 'MSM' unless it has something controversial as in this case, NS generally is pretty good at covering this kind of thing is a fair manner, I will take a look tomorrow to see what else I can find out.

Goldstein said in a video interview with the American Stroke Association, which is a division of the American Heart Association (AHA). However, Goldstein noted that the study had limitations.
For example, the researchers weren't able to take into account some factors that are known to increase people's risk of stroke and heart disease, such as high blood pressure, alcohol use and an unhealthy diet.

In addition, because the study only examined people's responses at one point in time, it is not able to tease out cause and effect — that is, it cannot prove that e-cigarette use was the cause of people's cardiovascular problems, or whether people who use e-cigarettes have other characteristics that increased their risk.

I know many people that started vaping to stop smoking..Most of them (mainly Americans) only use vape mods to this day and say that they feel 100% healthier then when they were heavy smokers..Some of them have reduced the nicotine concentrations of the liquid down to zero.
If they cannot use the vape mod because of low batt etc,it`s not a big deal they say.
I would be willing to bet that most of them would buy and smoke cigarettes again if e-cigs were banned..Its a bet I would win IMO.
Some guys I know smoke cigarettes occasionally and use vaping as a way to cut down on their habit which I think is a very bad idea.
I say good luck to them all.
    Their bodies..Their choice!

Typical quit smoking testimonial via vaping that Im hearing more often..

UK,sativa investments have just been granted licences for an 8 acre £10 million quid greenhouse complex in which to grow cannabis to supply a large number of "well-ness" shops they plan to open selling CBD products including low THC "flowers" I am keeping an eye on their share prices as I missed out on GW Pharma.

I smoked for 20 years or more and smoked heavily. When I decided to cut down I switched from 40 Marlborough to 60 Silk Cut. I used to smoke in between courses in restaurants. I could smoke and eat at the same time, probably the only multi-tasking I've every managed. When I finally decided to give up ( child on the way ) it still took me a year to lose the habit properly. I have no desire whatsoever to smoke or vape but I am not a born again non smoker. Travelling abroad a lot it, has never bothered me to be in the company of smokers unless I am eating. I find that the main change, apart from the laws, is that all smokers are very respectful of non smokers in general. There is a vape shop near where I live and they seem to have tasting evenings because it looks like a pantomime special effect inside. I think that vapers just need to continue the respect of smokers and all will be well.
