What can I say, the man was a legend and he was the first man to defeat Ali. And on their final fight known as the "Thrilla in Manila", at the end of the fight it was ended because Joe Fraziers eyes were swollen despite his pleas to carry on, and at the same time Muhammad Ali was pleading with his corner to cut off his bandages - he couldn't go on! So had that fight continued to that final round, boxing history might have changed. However, Joe Frazier was and will always be one of the greatest champions boxing has ever seen. RIP Smokin' Joe
R.I.P. Joe - one of the greats! Thinking about it - it's a bit of a sad period for deaths - we've had Seve - Joe - Jimmy - Betty - my friend in Dumaguete - Dan - please forgive me for forgetting some greats. Mind you, on the plus side there has been Hussein - Bin Liner and that crazy Libyan. May the good people live for ever! Al.
Sad day indeed...... Amazing how many celebrities have passed on in 2011......... and yes, even baddies have had their comeuppance...
Smokin Joe Frazier. What a legend of a man and what a legend of a boxing hero. There'll never be the same again I'm sure. He was one of those who really are 'the real deal' Of course, in those days everyone wanted to see Ali get beat, despite even knowing he too was one of the greatest. RIP Smokin Joe
