Chatting with my wife yesterday she revealed to me that her brother, my brother in law has a degree in Community Work, though he has spent the last five years managing a Pharmacy in Malaybalay, looking on the shortage occupations list lo and behold 3231 Youth and Community Worker appears on the shortage list and only requires an RQF level 3 A level standard his degree is equal to an RQF level 6, also after limited reseaarch it appears he would need an english language requirement at B1 level. Could any of you kind souls on here have a few minutes to spare confirm what i have found out thank you.
Obviously my wife would love to have her brother over here, and i personally have always found him to be a friendly and respectful guy so only to happy to try to help him and my extended family hence me posting this..

Yes I agree it appears on that list but that's simply an eligibility list for a skilled worker visa. It is not a shortage list.

If I recall correctly, an offer of employment is an absolute requirement.

These visas aren't provided so that people can come to the UK speculatively and then look for work. They exist so that employers can offer employment to overseas candidates and then arrange their visas.

The Philippines has capped the number of health care professionals it drip-feeds onto the world's labour markets to 5000 in number, does it also limit other professions?

These 2 links may further help your research I havent read them in great detail and any visa application as I understand it would be subject to a job offer and sponsorship from an employer

Thanks for your replies guys, I have never thought for one moment it is a way of coming to the UK outside of Fiancee, Spouse, or any other type of relationship visa, I realised that it depends on a job offer from a company that has a sponsorship Certificate ( I follow Speedway in which teams employ foreign riders through their sponsorship Certificate) such as speedway.
I have now found the actual shortage list https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-shortage-occupation-list and it is not on there, It seems that the list i looked at was the eligibility list the same that Oss highlighted.
Which means i can now go back to trying to persuade my wife to learn to drive :D.

The first link is the link to the UK government list that I posted. I feel its important to remember that the second link points to workpermit.com and I have noticed that information on that site can be wrong or misleading.

There is only one definitive source of information - the British government and the Home Office immigration rules.
