Well, this story is pretty sad when you think a teacher is getting attacked for teaching Muslim school girls about other religions:frust:

Though I will be very disappointed if these attackers get a light sentence when we should throw the book at them and let them rot in prison for this...

I read the story from your link. Absolutely outrageous. Probably this guy will not feel like returning to teaching.
It will indeed be interesting to see what sentences are given. Whatever sentences they get will not help the poor guy who got so brutally attacked.

That is shocking and personally worrying, my daughter teaches religion at a top girls school near London, it's not specific faith teaching more teaching about all faiths but the idea that someone could take exception to a teacher doing their day to day job is very upsetting :(

That does seem odd to me as well. Can't think of any circumstances where they would do nothing.

Yeah, I read this bit of news this morning, and it annoyed me greatly.

Again we are faced by the inbred ignorance of one particular tribal group's creed, anchored in the dark ages...:erm:

It is crazy to think that in this day and age, man on the moon, internet, and all that blarney, we still have such backwardness within our civilization....

The problem with jailing those muppets is that they will see it and show it as a badge of honour for casting their anger at the "kaffur"...

So, ideally, wether they have a British passport or not, tey should be exiled somewhere else in the world, with their own kind, and any citizenship rights withdrawn.
As it is obvious that abiding by the laws of the land, ain't one of their favourite things to do...

i am sure that if "Sharia" was applied to them as punishment for this crime, they would soon be complaining to the European Court of Human Rights... And expect compo from the British Government...

It could just as easily have been the National Front beating on an asian teacher for me its the crime i abhor and the daft dectetives who apperently let it happen:boxer:

    Exactly............

To me the one small basic difference is the mental attitude.
A national front idiot, might beat up an asian, which is an appalling thing to do, but wouldn't resort to kill that person. reason could be that he is scared of the unknown and cannot react mentally to that, or find a way to reconcile himself to a demographically changing environment.
And the "other" lot, would happily kill a whitey just because their interpretation of some tomes on a 700 years old fiction book is wrogly thought out and put together...

For me, I don't care in whatever one believes in, as long as the laws of the land are not broken, in any way shape or form.
And the land cannot have two sets of laws in competition with each other, even if running side by side, on the sly, like it is happening in some places.

What is generally being done, is the unleashing of some kind of religious bulliyng against the indigenous population, by a few well placed, influential and charismatic Imams.

Is one to assume therefore that these 'detectives' will also be brought to justice for effectively aiding and abetting a crime?

The real end result in this sorry affair, would be for the authorities to be able to get the person, or persons in the film, and issue and arrest warrant for physical abuse, assault, and what have you to minors.
I have seen portrayed in the press, western teachers losing their jobs and even publicy humiliated for just trying to discipline unruly pupils by telling them off, or just dragging them to the Heads office, or giving them detention.
The law must apply to everyone in equal measure.
One cannot cover these offenses by classifying them as cultural or religion influenced.

    Interesting view.
Whatever any us may think about religion and schools, it's surely important to include the opportunity to study religions (past and present) and their impacts of human life for historical current and future impacts?

A good point. In fact - did you realise that RE (Religious Education) is the ONLY compulsory subject in state run schools in the UK?

When you say compulsory, do that mean the parents have no input/influence?

Schools are OBLIGED to teach R.E. classes - but parents have the right to withdraw their children from the classes - as they have the same right to withdraw from religious assemblies.
