How on earth can people afford iPads, iPhones etc???? I cannot even look at them because of the cost!! Al.
There is an Apple premium Al. Although I've recently moved to Apple, I really only did it for Joy.. And yes, I am getting used to it (finally) and I do like the iPhone. But if cost were the only factor I would go for Android every day...
On a slightly different note, my wife has just introduced me to the "monopod", a sort of extendable rod for family selfies. She is serious.....
Ah one of my favourite rants. Apple is a premium device that I think is overpriced by about 20-25%. As soon as its payday I'm off to buy the Samsung note 10.1 2014 edition. A bit expensive but worth the outlay in my mind for what I will use it for. A lot of people I've talked to recently have regreted their move to apple, hindsight being what it is. They were innovative at the start, in that there is no doubt but they have stagnated and android devices have caught up and over taken them in some respects. Apple do hold their value better but I believe (and I'm probably wrong here) as they continue to do software updates older models get left out of the updates and so very quickly appear to become old, slow and obsolete forcing you to buy the new model. I recently brought the wife the 5c the "cheap" iphone. Can you honestly say is the any real difference between that and the 5s? in the real world, no not really. It just allows people to show they've got a more expensive metal box they can facebook on and play angry birds!!! The main reason I hear people buy apple laptops is they boot up so quickly. I'm sorry but I'm not going to pay a minimum of 800quid for a boggo standard laptop that boots up 10 seconds faster than one I can buy for less than half that price. If you are carefull windows based laptops will last years. I'm typing this on a 2nd hand Asus I got off ebay nearly 4 yrs ago and I've had no real problems. At the end of the day its like all things, people like / prefer different things.
Don't know how true it is but I read recently that Samsung actually make the displays for apple. Probably internet tosh but its made me smile
Interesting use of a mono pod,I expect she means to mount the camera on the ball head of a monopod and hold it out in front of the pair of you pointing backwards? Good monopods are not cheap, I used to have one like this http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-manfrotto-562b-1-fluid-monopod-with-qr-plate/p1540743
Stick an SSD in any Windows laptop and the boot times will be just as fast as any Apple, plus you should be using sleep mode most of the time anyway even on Windows which results in startup times of a couple of seconds. I just bought another ThinkPad laptop from ebay, almost immaculate, discrete graphics (gaming although I don't do gaming) keyboard screen and interior almost brand new, couple of marks on the outside, total price including delivery 150 quid.
Yes, thats what some people are doing now, apparently. There seems to be some cheap ones knocking about now....
This one is good I had this one too but it got damaged out in the Phils http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-manfrotto-mmc3-01-compact-monopod-black/p1524997 but you need the tilt head as well if you wanted to do selfies.
For just a tiny bit of pocketable extension I recommend this http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-manfrotto-709b-digi-tabletop-tripod/p10869 great little table tripod that you can handhold as a monopod.
Ironically, Samsung make (I think) about 70% of the parts inside of the Apple Iphone, which are then assembled by Foxconn. Same with all Apple products now, they only produce the software, everything else is made up of other companies parts. I am giving serious thought to creating a Hackintosh!!!
Don't understand these monopole things? Is everyones arms shorter than they used to be? That is a belting deal, its silly not to do that. Why pay daft prices when you can get quality products at knockdown prices. Sound like I should be on a info-mercial!!
Now magnetic monopole's that's a subject you don't want to get started on (I do know what you mean mate) Regards the laptop, yeah just been setting it up, I already had this exact model a Lenovo W500 ThinkPad workstation class device, I bought the first one for 600 quid on ebay 28 months ago and it has been my main development machine ever since, this one is in almost new condition, I was not going to buy as they were 180 quid but then the same company started selling them for 150 with a totally knackered battery, given that I can get a new battery for just over a tenner (just did that) it was a no-brainer. This new one will replace my current W500 and my old one will be the next family laptop this April as my old T61 died last year, I diagnosed as a damaged graphics card when I went over at Christmas, the T43 that is still over there still provides perfect basic internet but the kids enjoyed the gaming power of the T61 and this W500 was going cheaper than some (very old) T61's. Also going to get a more powerful and modern ultra lightweight X220 ThinkPad next month, I need a minimum of two computers for myself at all times. Regards the iPad-Phone-Pod-Mac whatever's, you pay a premium and the premium appears to be mostly for the styling, yes they have been innovative and they certainly have a lot of very bright people working for them but the experience of using their hardware and software has never won me over, I had an iPhone 3Gs for 2 years supplied by work and yeah it worked the software was good but I had been using smartphones and handheld PDA's for over a decade and for me it missed out on a lot of what I wanted in a PDA. Regards the Mac, these damn things have ruined every decent alternative laptop brand the only holdout had been Lenovo and they caved with the xx30 generation like the T430, Apple declares that 6 rows of keys on a keyboard are all you need and everyone follows like sheep, ThinkPads had 7 rows, their layout was the same as a desktop PC Dell used to do that layout too but no longer, form over function, I will never buy a new style ThinkPad because typing on it would be agony, there is nothing worse than the muscle memory shift you have to make as a programmer going from a desktop to a laptop keyboard and Lenovo have betrayed the ThinkPad legacy by copying the "form over function" crappy Apple keyboard. ThinkPads keyboards work for a reason because they were based on the IBM model M keyboard that was designed by people who had to program machines, function keys are in groups of 4 so you can easily find the right group, Apple people only ever click mouse buttons so function keys are tiny and hard to find. The Insert, Delete, Page up, Page down, Home Delete block is vital to engineers and programmers and to writers it is in exactly the right place on a Model M and on every ThinkPad keyboard in the last 20 years but no longer all because Lenovo didn't have the guts to stand up to Apple and not follow the trendy clickity click moron dumbed down consumption oriented design ethos, ooooo it's so pretty, but it doesn't fricken do it's job properly. Sorry rant over I could go on all night.
My wifes arms have always been short. I think she thinks that we can get a better family selfie with one of these things, rather than using a tripod and timer which involves a quick dash each shot.
Canon EOS-M (great little camera) and one of these http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-canon-rc-6-remote-control/p1519993 No dashing around no long arms and big long sticks in the shot.
This is all I can find, if it is a NEX this should work http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-...=22191572769&gclid=cj6o9qvbpbwcfflhtaodxxuaya
