Instead of constantly bickering, why can't people just "ignore" members who differ widely from their beliefs/principles?

Click on their avatar then choose the ignore option. Easy peasy.

We need more ladies to post. They are usually much more interesting and amusing than a bunch of grumpy old men. :D

Interestingly there are only 19 instances of a user ignoring another user in the entire database :)

There are people whom I don't always agree with but occasionally they will say something I find interesting or insightful.

I agree but ladies - Filipinas in particular won't post if they feel in any way threatened or put off by the environment. Things likely to put them off would include misogynists and unfair/unwarranted criticism of their country, country folk and gender.

And that is up to the moderators to decide, and themselves alone, surely.

Ok my friend, and who do you think (constantly) harried and cyber-bullied new member 'whipster'.... and opened up the whole can of worms concerning 'sex-tourism' and other negative aspects of Filipino life ? Also, the habits, tendencies and personal qualities of Filipino males for instance ? Subjects POSSIBLY likely to upset Filipina members (though I doubt it).

I have no idea who whipster is. I have no experience of the Cebu forum that has been referred to either, but I am an adult male with 26 years experience of living in the Phils.
Some of us have found your tantrums recently at the very least tedious, if not rather pathetic.... and those of your buddy on here.

    and

I am sure that you would agree that whether existing content might offend Filipino people (or indeed their british partners) is not really solely a moderator decision. I feel that its a fair point that some women and Filipina ladies in particular may indeed have been discouraged from contributing to some of the 'discussions' or felt offended but simply didn't say.

As I've said before, I'm all for the right of free speech, but in order for that freedom to be preserved, it's wise to exercise restraint when using that right.

Unless someone were to go and edit the relevant posts, let us not forget that the postings in this forum now contain some opinions that some people may continue to find offensive when browsing.

Without wanting to be too contentious about it, it seems to me that there may be an element of wishing to continue an argument here when the underlying reason for it has now vanished.

Ultimately, yes it is a moderators' decision. Simply because when a board polices itself it can descend into farce. See recent events for proof.

It is not up to you, or me, to close a debate simply because one doesn't agree with some assessments of it. I don't see an argument here.

OK I agree with you. There is no argument here.

I feel that its best to draw a line under the incident and move on.

Well, you (ChoiAndJohn) have certainly expressed your strong feelings on various subjects related to this thread recently. However, that doesn't mean that you are right or that anyone else agrees with your (limited IMO) outlook on things Filipino... male or female.

You keep saying that. Fine, you draw that line, but don't draw it for anyone else.

    No argument. Really. Really really!

But it's not upto you to call 'time' on anything for anybody else. Unless you have some wacky God complex or something!! Of course, you can take that decision for yourself, as that is anybody's right.

Why are you and Graham59 deliberately protracting the argument?

Get a life, both of you. Or get a room!
