Maybe the next Dr Who needs to be green, to save planet earth from the over indulgent inhabitants of the 21st century? :D

Tongue in cheek. I know it wouldn't be very popular.

There's already green Madam Vastra, the lesbian reptile Victorian detective :)

I must have missed her along the way. Sounds a bit spicey too! Presumably on after the watershed?

She and Jenny are married. Go figure. Strax is under the age of consent, about eight, though.

Watched Doctor Who since the first episode. Not much get by be. The marriage between Vastra and Jenny is mentioned in the Christmas episode The Snowmen. If I remember right Strax's age is referenced in Demon's Run but it might have been earlier.

I used to watch Dr Who in the early days, when I was a kid. I watched it week in week out. But I eventually grew tired of it. Though I recall a long spell where they took it of air.

My son was gripped by it and it was the catalyst for me watching it again. I did enjoy watching it a second time around.

Ah showing your age Bob ;) I remember that first episode too, just recently realised that the first episode that Saturday in 1963 was the day after the assassination of John F Kennedy, I remember both vividly but passage of time obscured the closeness of the two events.

I loved Hartnell but Patrick Troughton was probably my favourite Doctor up till recent times, the new ones are really good, production values much much higher and the storytelling is great now but I don't always get to see them all in sequence all the time which is why I miss things :) but it's still the greatest inspirational sci-fi programme in existence in my opinion :)

You can catch up on Netflix!

I recently watched the first series of the new Who.

Like you, I remember the two events, but not that they were separated by a single day.

Possibly because, whilst we do remember Episode One, with the two schoolteachers walking into the scrapyard, what we really remember, with crystal clarity, was Epsisode Five, with the Tardis landing in the petrified forest, the radiation meter going off the scale, and the first sight of the terrifying (and entirely novel, as sci-fi monsters) Daleks!

Yes. At that time and at my age they were just that.

I think they'll have an unknown again. But then again, I think Rory Kinnear is in the same league right now as David Tennant was back before he got cast. Well respected, known in the industry and this would boost his career..

That said, I can't help think that all the "leaks" and stuff is really the management of Rory Kinnear giving his credentials a bit of a boost in order to secure him another role in something else (Hollywood)!

Given that they're also suggesting an unknown, I might put a punt on James Boyland!
