    Hi mate,

Just really hope you are getting better, even if you have to go through hell to do that.

I am thinking about you a lot and I am sure other friends on here are too.

I am guessing that it's really hard for you just now.

Take care sir and get well.

I was thinking the same. Kuya has not been on-line for several days. I think his wife is in the Philippines right now so he is facing face this hurdle alone at present.

No Howerd, I think Joy stayed here in the end, and much credit to her for doing that.

Yes, I concur with Howerd and OSS, hope you're comfortable at least, and the outlook is getting brighter day by day.

Haven't been able to be on here as much as I would have wished lately, as work, is getting wearier, but you have been in my thoughts very often.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Generally speaking, I'm not online much because my iPhone is my only source of internet right now and the signal can be shocking most times, sometimes I'll go almost a day without any internet and then it comes in slowly in the evening.

As for me, I'm doing ok. I was hit with some bad news that the genetic structure of my leukaemia is a stubborn one that makes me high risk, which means I need a bone marrow transplant.

But I'm confident that if I can get a transplant (and I've got 4 sisters who have tested for compatibility) I can move on with my life.

High risk simply means the cancer has an 85% chance of returning on chemotherapy alone. So the doctors are planning a bone marrow transplant as soon as a suitable donor is available.

Chemotherapy isn't the hell I thought it would be, or perhaps I'm handling it better than most. I've lost about 9 kilos, but this is over 4 weeks and probably includes water loss as well. Some people here rarely eat and are monitored by the nutritionist, whom I've not met yet as they know I'm at least eating some food throughout the day.

If one of my sisters is a match, I'll probably do just one more cycle of chemotherapy before having the transplant. The biggest risk of course is no immune system, I've already stopped any real physical contact with my family and friends, this makes catching a simple cold that could (for me) be deadly less likely.

Hopefully I will be home in a week or so, once my blood shows I've got a good enough growth in white blood cells to provide at least some protection from infections.

Once there I can at least get online properly for a short while...

Great for losing a few pounds eh? Perhaps I will try it.

I note you mention Nutrionist. My daughter is an RN with a nutrionist tag. And in Manchester Royal. Thats how she first ended up in nursing. I first wondered why nutritionists were needed but it was obvious after she pointed the reasoning out. I thought at first it was to regulate hospital food - LOL

You are having a tough time, Sean. Let's hope one of your sisters proves to be a perfect match. They must be worrying about you and also about the possibility they too could contract the disease.

I know those bedside phone/tv/internet devices can be expensive but in the hospital where I was an inpatient last week, you could make any number of outgoing calls free to UK landlines - you did not have to add any credit whatsoever. So let another staff member know how you are getting on.

There are no internet machines on this ward, but we do have free TV and by luck mine has 6 channels only and none that I watch..

Not all hospitals have those internet machines and even those hospitals that do, they don't necessarily have them on every ward.

Sorry if I haven't been around as often as I would have liked, but as usual my summers are taken by traveling around the country.
You have been in my thoughts, and was hoping to visit sometime, or at least meet up, but for the rest of this month of August, the chances are rather slim.
I hope that at least one of your sisters will be a compatible match for the transplant, my friend, I am sure it will be.
