A Filipina friend of my wife said she was having a holiday in Turkey. No Schengen visa required.

I had never thought of Turkey before.

    4.5 hour flight from Manchester.

A bit close to the IS action. :D

Turkey needs a visa in advance, e-visa I believe.

Looking further afield, there are some recent changes that might be of interest...
    • Indonesia has just removed the $35 visa-on-arrival fee for British Citizens, unfortunately I was there a month too early and had to pay. :(
Now you will get 30 days visa free entry, as do Filipinos.
    • Vietnam will reportedly allow British Citizens to stay for 15 days without a visa starting from the 1st July 2015.
Currently the visa-on-arrival costs $20 for the approval letter and $45 stamping fee at the airport on arrival for a 30 day visa.
    ($ = USD)

    Basta*ds.

Just seen it myself, the headlines are so awful.

The "supposed" religion (of peace) used for hatred against normal everyday people.

    The evil side of islam.
    May they rot in hell!

There has been a lot of "actvity"today. Over a fair spread of countries.

I am afraid, it may be too late to stop the spread of this particular cancer...

My fear is that quite a few have returned unannounced to the Uk, and will probably end up touching base with the ones the cops let go, and lots of violent stuff will hit the proverbial fan.

It is hard to believe that we are not as safe as we once were.

The odd IRA bomb that went off in the past, will be nothing compared to what those idiot will be capable to unleash.

Ideally, they should all be rounded up on return from Syria, and locked up in a secure place,

I agree but they'll all get Legal Aid, be represented by lawyers from Doughty Street Chambers who'll invoke passages from the Human Rights Act and we'll end up paying them compensation for wrongful imprisonment.

So, no holidays to Morocco, Tunisia or Turkey for those whose spouses dont hold British passports. Its sunny Bridlington instead.

A colleague of mine went to Egypt a couple of months ago, for a beach holiday. He said there was a lot of security about.

A colleague is going Tunisia in a few weeks! Its took her all her time to get her partner to go because he's scared of flying. He's got something else to take his mind off it now.
