Hi, I am Jeniffer here and I am new to the forums.

Just curious / wanted to know if anybody submitted their Uk Spouse Visa (clearance) recently and what is the timeline like?

I would like to pay for Premium Service just so i do not have to wait as long.

Priority processing normally takes 10 working days, subject to number of applicants and how straightforward your case is. But someone here paid for priority but took more than 10 working days.

Thank you for the reply @Brom27 . I was reading @Matt P's post in this thread this morning and saw that he is still waiting.

I am currently just waiting for my solicitor to go through all the documents and I am stuck at the letter of confirmation from the employer. My husband is currently serving the British Army and getting the letter under a headed letter seems impossible as his superior refused to help.

Has anyone here encounter any situation like this before? Please advise. :'(

Hi Jennifer im also serving and in the process. today i spoke to my clerk about a letter of employment he managed to get a letter together only problem is it doesnt state my salary just states when i started employment and when it finishes(is this sufficient enough). I dunno if a solicitor can maybe write up a letter of employment stating annual salary an that can they? Anyone know?

    Thanks
    Kyle

I believe it's the employer's responsibility to state how much salary you are earning.

Im afraid we dont have an active Forum member currently serving in the armed forces so we dont really know.

You say you have a solicitor already so can you need to ask your solicitor if providing any letter confirming employment is enough. Isnt the RAF or any army has HR (or personnel) department or equivalent that deals with this type of stuff so you dont need to 'bother' your immediate superior on this minor requests?

At the same time, your solicitor should know better in dealing with your specific situation and should be able to give you advice. Make sure you utilize the amount you pay them. On the average, you pay about £800 per case and thats a lot of money.

One point i'd like highlight, Revealing salary of an active service person might be revealing confidential security information so there might be resistance in giving those information away specially if you have to send the dox to a foreign country.

We do actually have a current member of the armed forces namely @SoldierRJ88 :)

I may have misunderstood but I think he is current, as in current military.

I stand corrected then. I remembered him asking for advice about his visit to ph.

But my advice to jennifer stands, they have hired a solicitor so they should be able to get the best advice on their specific situation (although i understand that as a person she is just double checking to gain better insight).

No point having paid one and then stressing about it since they ahould be 'holding your hand' and guiding you through the entire process.

Goodluck with your application. We would certainly want to hear an update for the benefit of other members who are going through the same thing.

I have cousins who were in the armed forces and, if I recall correctly, a document known as their "Pay Book" gives full and complete details their service. The soldier should ask to see his unit's Welfare Officer, who is often a Padre, who may be able to help.

On my husband's employment letter last year while I was doing the fiance(e) visa, his salary wasn't stated so we provided his p60 to prove that he can meet the financial requirement. We got the visa, so I can say that they accepted that.

On our recent application for FLR(M), the salary was included on the letter though.:D

Hi everybody, we went through alot to be able to get the letter from the HR department.

My husband got rejected so many times as they refused to issue such letters. I then panicked and talk to my solicitor but they are not doing anything to help.

So i started to do my own research on this particular letter. There is few things i would suggest my fellow friend to try out:

    1) talk to the payroll department as they might be able to issue that (if you cannot get them to do it for you, try option 2)

    2) talk to the unit clerk. Every unit or regimen has their own clerk. Talk to them and ask them to write the letter for you.

There is a format for such letters but unfortunately the format was not compatible as it fails to include the salary. You can mention Annex D DPSA PS4 F&C Guide to the unit clerk so they can get a rough idea.

You might need to speak to lots of different person and see if they are willing to help because that is what my husband did.

End of stort, someone from the HR department decided to help him and because the original format was not compatible with the ukvi requirements so he drafted the letter himself which includes his name, national insurance number, duration of contract and gross annual salary.

    Hope it helps. @kyle

I know with especially smaller companies that it is feasible to write the letter yourself and get the Manager to sign it, my boss at the time of application actually suggested that. Larger companies of course usually have to follow a specific company policy therefore making it more difficult to get the required letter that will satisfy the requirements of the UKVI.

Good to see that you got there in the end.

I know Timmers. It was such a pain to get the letter and sometimes it is upsetting to know just how unhelpful people can be. But, I am glad that i got it in the end, so no complaints. :)

Oh yeah, I would like to draw special attention to those who apply under the spouse of an Armed Forces.

Instead of a 33 months entry, you will be given a 5 years entry if you are qualified under this tier. Besides, you would be exempted from paying for the NHS Surcharge.

However the UKVI's system was not updated enough to keep up with this rule as under the "type of visa" column, there is no "spouse / dependent of an armed forces". So you would first have to pay for the NHS surcharge which is GBP600 and claim for a refund afterwards.

    Hope it helps.

Very interesting and good information, thanks for the information, most helpful to others marrying into the armed forces.
