    yes--money in her a/c.

reasons to return-----2 businesses--kids---------now can you see why mentioning a 6 month visit would work against her ?? how can they be compelling reasons to return if shes away for 6 months.

It's relates to "your" child's UK Passport application - I was indicating to @graham59 that'll he'll know it's approved when they ask him for an updated photo of the child - I think mine were 15 months from the time I submitted the forms...

In your case, even if you don't feel need to, I suspect you may have to get DNA evidence to support your child's UK Passport application.

Luckily, if you have a flexible ISA you won't lose your allowance for the year when you transfer out and back in :)

Just wondering, maybe I am missing something, why is the word 'your' in inverted commas?

Any idea how much a DNA test might set me back in the Philippines. My partner believes they are quite expensive. Not that it matters, it is worth doing whatever the cost.

I've seen figures between £130 and £400 + quoted by people have had such tests done.
You'd be advised to check with (as a starting point ?) the British Embassy in Manila, for a list of approved testers. I doubt you can just produce a result from any old lab' when used as evidence to prove paternity.

My boy is apparently as 'silly' and badly-behaved as his dad, according to my Mrs.

Graham, you look like a happy and contented man, with a lovely family. I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed their views and advice to my situation. We may not be in safety just yet, but at least now we have a plan. I shall update the thread on how we are getting on, and I shall check back often, so if anyone has any other ideas or anything to add, I look forward to it. Many thanks to your all. :)

Hi, just thought I would post a quick update... My partner has seemingly succeeded in convincing her husband in the futility of trying to have us sent to jail, and has also, with a lot of help from family and friends been able to get a promise of cooperation on his part regarding an annulment of their marriage... So success all round.. I shall start another thread, but just mentioned here as well... does anyone have any advice or info or personal experiences which may aid me in my next task of starting the annulment process?

Good news, its good you now have the husbands cooperation, lets hope it stays that way :)

Getting a annulment in the Philippines is all about employing a trust worthy solicitor who has a good reputation and track record, at the end of the day a good/recommended solicitor will save you time, money and stress.

Annulments are like fingerprints as in no two are the same so no one can say for sure what the exact cost will be or the timeframe. Budget for £2-3k and you might be somewhere near.

    Good luck :)

Thank you Timmers, I don't suppose you could recommend a trustworthy lawyer? I don't have many contacts in the Philippines, how do I go about finding someone who won't rip me off? Any suggestions what to look out for? Or just having word of mouth?

My wife hired a lady solicitor in Manila as she lived nearby, this was 7 or so years back now and she cannot remember the legal firm.

I would ask family or friends there for recommendations on a solicitor, there is nothing better than a personal recommendation as you know.

Don't let the annulment worry you, its a bit of a grind but you will get there, frustrations can start when judges don't turn up for hearings and so on as in @bigmac case.
