Vaccinations for Asian Travel

My vaccinations are well out of date, what routine do you gentlemen use for vaccination check-ups, and which vaccinations do you feel are needed for Asia?

During a typical year I might travel to Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong...

I am only interested in sensible vaccinations, many years ago when I was first heading out to work in Bangkok my GP prescribed Lariam (anti malaria) tablets, bit of an overkill as Bangkok is not in the middle of the jungle, I stay away from the jungle, so no idiotic suggestions please.

Five years ago I called into my (UK) doctors surgery to ask about a vaccination check-up, the receptionist was rude and useless, her job was obviously not to help. I finally gave up after she informed me that I did not need injections anyway and that the sister was always busy.

    My vaccination card shows:
    ----------------------------------------------
    11/09/03 - Combined Hep A & Typhoid
    06/09/04 - Hepatitis A
    07/04/99 - Diptheria Tetanus booster
    07/04/99 - Polio booster
    ----------------------------------------------

Don't think I have a GP any more, not bothered since the rude receptionist incident.

Might raise the issue during my next health check.

I notice that my health insurance plan covers the cost of vaccinations, I have no excuse.

In your shoes, Dave, I'd simply get my anti-Tetanus booster - but that does assume you don't intend to venture outside the major cities in any of the countries you mention.

I would suggest you take the trouble to have them this time.............. prevention is much better than cure....

I sorta gambled that you're safer if eating from reputable establishments in a city compared to say some street food in the provinces. Of course on my first ever visit I ended up eating street food in a province at one point. So no matter what your intentions, they can always change. So yes I wouldn't disagree. I'm unfortunate ly too late for some of them.

You will only feel a little prick if you get them,
"prevention is much better", (The Don)
but what will you feel ??? if you do not get inoculated and then get an infection.??? :)
