Hello everyone, My name is Cherry I am a Filipina married to a British national, my husband is currently in England. I finally decided to look for some blog sites or forums like this after trying to do my visa application on my own and find it almost impossible for a normal person to do it online. I got stucked on the permission to stay in England question, I don't what put on that bit. My husband and I even thought about paying an immigration officer to do it for us but the price was too expensive there is no way we can afford £1500 just for them to help us out. The entire application is so confusing I am getting so emotional right now because I wanted to be with my husband so bad we both miss each other like mad. I need help so bad Cherry
That sounds a little expensive. It should be more like £700 or 800. However, if you stick around then people on the forum will guide you.
Cherry. What does that question actually say and what section is it in? Which form are you filling out?
it was on the 3rd part of the online application questionaire where it says " Permission to stay in the country where you are making your application" I don't understand it at all. I haven't got any permission as of yet because I haven't got any visa yet, but if I am not going to write anything I can't move to the next part either
I would think it would be something like.. "As the spouse of someone settled in the UK" See what others say.
Thank you so Thank you Mr.Ash, this whole visa application process is a nightmare and one more thing, I've got an old passport but I lost it ages ago and there is no way I can retrieve my information. On the travel history part of the application they gonna ask all your previous passports and travel documents information for the last 10 years, can I just put my current passport information instead? I had this passport since 2010.
You really cant afford to lie. So you would have to state that you lost your old passport and no longer have the details.

Absolute truth is essential. I have a Filipino friend who has six years left to run of a ten year ban from applying to join his wife in the UK, because he claimed to be a Moslem but could not list the Five Pillars. But the question that has you stumped refers to people applying from a country other than your own - you just reply "Filipina national resident in the Philippines". Forgive my bluntness but was the passport that you lost genuine or a fake? If it was a fake, say nothing about it. If it was genuine you must accomplish an Affidavit of Loss. Include that in your application papers.
It's alright it was a genuine passport. Trouble is if I wont fill the entire form it wont let me go through next part. Before the previous passports thing, I need to provide my current passport information. Then I need to state if is this my first passport so I clicked "no" since it wasn't my first passport and then I need to provide my previous passport information which I haven't got it anymore. It would have been easier if I can just say something about it, but there were only boxes provided for the passport number, date of issue and the expiry date I mean there is no space or box where I can type I lost it and.
Just looking through my old application form. It looks like Section 3 is about the sponsor, so would be details of your husband. I don't actually have that question on mine though.
right, you must get details of your old passport and for sure they will be on record somewhere within the DFA. The DFA have quite good computerised records and I suggest that you book an appointment on their website and explain the situation - take your current passport and NSO Birth Certificate with you.
Cherry, Just repeating John's question from earlier. What is the name of the form you are using? Is it VAF4A?
Oh God I never thought this is going to be this difficult, but I've got to do it otherwise I can't go anywhere with my application. Thank you so much you guys are very helpful
It's very long-winded getting everything together. you'll need a lot of documentation from your husband too. Be patient. It's not something you can rush.
I agree wish there is something I can do to speed it up though. I have most of my husbands documents with me the original ones like his birth certificate, his final divorce papers translated in english, his bank statements and pay slips, his p60, but his still working on the sponsorship letter.
I am just using my mobile phone right now, but I will look it up tomorrow on my computer it feels so good to find people who are willing to try and help you out you know, especially when you feel so helpless. Thank u
