    Yay! Congratulations! That's great news.

We're both "fiancee Visa" experts now. God help anyone who tries to disagree with us on THAT subject!

Mrs M came here in January with snow on the ground. Been here just over a year and she's already complaining it's too hot at the moment.

Congratulations to you and your finacee Timmers. Such a relief and a moment of excitement for you both.
May I ask (if you don't mind), after how many visits to see her in Phils did you make the application and how long had you been a couple at the time of the application. Just that this is still an option for me that would take away the stress of a marriage over there but I want to be sure I don't apply too early if we go that route.
All the best to you both!!

While waiting for Timmers, my own experience o going to Philippines was 6 times before applying for a visa, and once more while waiting.

I don't think the number of times is that relevent, although, obviously, the more you have been the more proof you have of a genuine relationship so each one helps. But if you have plenty of other proof too, the number of visits is not, in itself, a set quota.

Mine was 2 visits and I had known my wife for 6 months prior to the application.

We'd know each other about 18 months when we applied. We set the wedding for our 2 years anniversary so that we could mention that on the application. (We were advides by the agency we used to give a reason for choosing a date so we went with that, and stuck with it afterwards)

Thank you for your kind words Greg, you will soon be there yourself, you've taken the right steps coming here to BF as I did back in February of this year.

I met the loved one whilst working in Dubai over seven and a half years ago, visited her there maybe 25 times and the Philippines maybe 5 times. During this time she had two visit visas turned down which was a little disheartening. The reason it has taken us so long is because she was putting three of her daughters through university, if that hadn't been the case then I would have brought her here a long time ago. Obviously because we have been together so long I had a wealth of documentation to fall back on for the visa application. Note that it is a bit of a pain getting all the paperwork together for the visa but with the help of the chaps here it will make your life a lot easier.

Don't be afraid of asking any silly questions here at BF as I have already asked them all :), if in doubt ask.

Good luck on your journey Greg, remember we are all here to help each other.

Thanks Graham, yes we are experts now , it was like an apprenticeship, learning slowly but surely. As more people gain the visa we should be able to compile and give out more information from our experiences.

I would like to thank you for all the help you gave me, great job :)

It's going to cost you a bundle buying her all the winter clothes and shoes/boots, Timmers ;)

My wife often sleeps in her bath robe to keep warm, well not these very hot July days
We have a VERY thick duvet from IKEA. Expensive but well worth it.

You're right, she is moaning its hot all the time in Manila, we all know what she will be moaning about here in the UK

Yes I anticipate it costing me a tidy sum to make her more comfortable here.

I like what you say about the bath robe

I met my wife in Feb 2008.
Went back in late summer of the same year to get married.
It is all about "proof of relationship" so keep online chat logs, airticket information, hotel receipts and an album of photos with dates and location info and who is in the photos, especially her family.

Congratulations Timmers. At least your bride-to-be will have time to choose some clothes in the UK before the colder weather sets in!

Thanks Timmers, sure glad I found this site. It's another 6 months until we make our application and I'm sure I'll be back with a few "silly" questions and hopefully some advice from our experiences ahead. Good luck to you both!
