How ungrateful can you get!! :)

It's funny, she saw the times and said, oh it isn't that long a flight. I reminded her about timezones and she would be going back 8 hours in time. Oops, she said...

Over 19 hours in the air ain't fun for anyone! Especially when you arrive in the chilly North when you found 18 degrees and a weak wind in hk hard to take!

You'll both be sat at Lords before you even know it, if you think she wont like the idea then tell her you're going to a Barrio Fiesta :)

The 19 hours in the air is just a small moment in time, as the others have mentioned, its a surreal feeling going to pick the loved one up, I wish I could repeat that experience again, its great.

    I feel right now...

    Well I feel....

Apart from tired after a long day (working two jobs from 5am and only home an hour ago)...I feel...

I can't put it into words. I cannot grasp the amazement I feel. Of course I love my wife very much and I feel that...yet it's more than that. Maybe it's akin to waking up one day and realising you'll never die, or you can fly, or taking 10 for 18 runs against the Australian side of the early 21st Century on a flat Adelaide deck.

Yet I still dare not curse it all by signing the Valentine's Day card! And it's under 12 hours now. Over 18 months since I made a decision to start looking, and it's down to this.

The enormity of it all will hit me tomorrow at the airport. Bring. It. On.

Make sure you tell us about that special feeling when you see her come through the arrivals gate, we should really have a special thread for that, I love hearing peoples experience of picking the loved one up at the airport, its a once in a lifetime experience.

    Enjoy, I'm jealous :)

Looks like the flight was delayed by 80 minutes. She won't get much time to change. Maybe that's good.

They've just flown over India. Halfway here now!

Well she backed a 12-1 winner in her first race and now is enjoying the rugby so much she's already fast asleep...

It's a dream come true. We're both very happy.

    OK. :)

I waited well over an hour for her to come through the gate, trying not to get irritated at the large umm 'ethnic' crowd blocking the arrivals entrance waiting for the flight from Jeddah. In the end, I saw her coming through and I could scarcely believe my eyes that this was finally happening. I approached her and we hugged amidst the ethnic crowd - I could feel her tiredness and her relief. She was a bit uptight - she told me she had been cross-questioned by a grumpy 40-something lady who seemed unable to comprehend that we were married in December and she was coming here in February. As if there is a legal period that you should 'suffer' being apart - or perhaps she was used to dealing with spouses who had been messed about by the Embassy for 8 months or more?!? The experience had really upset my wife and she took a while to reassure. An unfriendly face is something you don't want after 18-19 hours of flight time.

So her arrival wasn't an amazing wonderful moment itself, but more of a moment of relief still tinged in unreality, as we didn't expect the CFO sticker to be granted so soon, merely on a courier's receipt! We've spent most of the last six days together, and it's wonderful. The feeling of 'yes, it's for real, we are with each other for good' (well as long as we get on with the PR application!) has finally taken hold and it's great knowing I can see her pretty face and bonkers smile every morning when I wake up. I love my wife very much and we are both very very happy. I'm not naïve about relationships, but I think there's a high chance we will always be happy with each other. I certainly will never take it for granted, as we realise we are lucky to first find each other then come through the whole process - which I still regard as being highly unfair and discriminatory against British citizens in their own country, and I say this now as an unbiased Irishman.

Once again, heartfelt thanks to board members for their help.

I am sorry that your wife suffered a rather disagreeable first impression. The immigration officer's own problems and insecurities may affect how she deals with others. She may be a closet xenophobe, of course, or passed-over for promotion or she may have had to stand on the tube from Barons Court all the way to Acton Town, any of which poisoned her mood.

Or she might have the standard UKVI salary of 17,600 which disqualifies her from doing the process that we managed to you-might-well-think-that-but-I-couldn't-possibly-comment: 'circumvent'! :D

...further evidence how I wouldn't have managed any of the process without the information from others.

Cheers Keith, you saved me time and energy yet again.

Simply smashing, pity the crazy immigration lady tainted the homecoming a little but that's behind you now, all uphill now :)

Well, it's been 1,277 days eight hours plus since Ms Tarsier arrived. Time has flown!

Today I saw an old email from here, and I thought, well might as well check the place out. My you lot all have grown...outward haha.

I am pleased to say we are still happily married, and no one is pointing a gun at my head as I write this. For a bloke who had been previously pretty cynical of relationships and the carp that it can bring, I must say that it's been the best decision I have ever made and I love wifey even more than when I married her, almost as much as I love the big JC in my life.

I have forgotten a lot of the process we went through, it was onerous and a pain but could have been far, far worse, especially comparing it to the experience of many others. Once again thanks to KeithAngel for his massive support which has never been forgotten.

    Cheers y'all
