Is there like a sensible time I should allow on stop overs ? Because I’ve seen some for like 50 minutes is it enough time
50 mins at Dubai (Emirates) would not be enough. It is a huge terminal complex, and not the easiest to find your way around... maybe more so for old gits like me. I suggest 1 hour 30 mins minimum on Emirates or Etihad , for transfer, but it is otherwise quite easy.
Yes they do definitely track your “hits” on their site or on a particular flight . I was told this years ago . I always clear my “cookies “after a search and often find the price changes even flying different days or searching different days . Better book early in my experience, they only ever seem to get more expensive nearer the flight date .
flight prices tendency is going well down. I have been paying less and less each year. Don't forget that there is other, non-Luzon, international airports located in the Philippines, located in not just Manila and Clark from which you can fly in from outside. you've met this girl before. She isn't going to think you are a monster from outer space. There is nothing to stop you from giving your girl a 'loyalty test' which is when you fly into Cebu, and then book her a flight to meet you there about a day later. You can do it all from the UK. they won't like that. The whole idea, from their point of view, is for you to go there, get close to the family, and the most crucial thing, is to hand over money with the promise of more to come. sock it to them with that idea. Be adventurous, and original. You're only young once. Ask her to be brave, independent, and take a chance. There is plenty of places to visit in the Philippines - not just Makati and Pampagna. go to Cebu and ask her to join you there. If she doesn't like it, and she probably won't, then so what. Test her.
I've always used Cathay Pacific as departure, arrival and changeover times suit me (change at Hong Kong). I once did a 45 minute stop over. We were met off the plane by a guy holding a card with the flight number, rushed through security and on to the gate at a great pace. It was far too hectic. We made it, but I wouldn't do it again. Not relaxing enough!
Yes that is stressful and always a concern when flights are close together . I've only flown once with Cathay Pacific , it was a really nice flight and service to Hong Kong , but I stayed there for 4 nights before flying on to Cebu .
I've flown with Cathay many times over the years (I used to live and work in Hong Kong... and helped to build that airport), but I prefer the sort of 'half-half' journey provided by Etihad and Emirates, where you get chance to stretch your legs for a couple of hours en route, plus I don't think I've ever seen Cathay quote cheaper than the mid-east airlines (from Manchester).
That's interesting @ Graham , to be honest I've never flown that route , is that to Manila ? Because I fly to Cebu , I usually fly Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur , stay there a few nights , then onto Cebu . I'll check Etihad andEmirates routes to see if that's a possible alternative . Yes I agree that Cathay Pacific are not usually the cheapest airline .
From what I've seen it looks like Cathay is one of the cheapest from Heathrow the dates I'm looking at that's a 50min stop over then to Clark from there
I'd recommend more than 50 minutes personally. I would aim for at least a 90 minute stop over to be safe.
Yes, more than once (convenient for me going up to Dagupan, Pangasinan). August last year was the last time, but last trip (January/Feb) I flew into Manila, because I used some of my Etihad air miles. 'Grab' are now able to use Clark. They've just opened a booth there, so hopefully the rip-off taxis there will be taught a lesson. Taxi to Angeles, from Manila ? p2500-3500 ? Bus from Manila ... p150 . No contest. lol There is also a 'Genesis' bus which runs directly from Manila NAIA T3 up to Angeles SM Mall and Clark now. Fare, I think is p350. (Emirates fly into T3).
