The covid 19 quarantine rules change regulatory for Philippines. I would wait till the new year to make plans.

    Hi all,

Can someone please confirm if I would be able to leave the UK and travel to Manila even if the UK still considers the Philippines to be on the 'red list' still? I have my visa as I am married to a Filipina, but not sure if the UK Border Control will let me leave the UK?

Look forward to hear your comments.

    Many thanks.

Yes you can but you will have to book one of the Philippines appointed quarantine hotels for when you arrive in Manila.
Likewise a period of quarantine will be required on return to UK ( currently)

You are allowed to leave the UK, the Philippines is still on the UK red list the problem is when you return, on return you must have booked a quarantine hotel for 10 days at a cost of nearly £2300, if you don't you will get fined something like £4000.

And we are on the Philippines equivalent of a red list and need to quarantine when we arrive in Manila on our outward journey.

Also please note you will have to have a valid visa issued by the London Philippine embassy and for that you will need your marriage certificate and possibly some other documents, without the visa your airline will not allow you to board.

Thanks for your reply. I am familiar with all the hoops we have to jump through regarding the restrictions. I visited my wife back in June this year and had to quarantine for 10 days in a hotel. I traveled from Turkey as I was working there for a few years and relocated back to the UK. I just was sure if I could travel back to Manila as the Philippines is still on the red list.

    Thanks for confirming again.

You are not banned from travelling but you will find it almost impossible to get travel insurance, so if you get sick over there it could be life threatening and you could still get sick even if you are double vaccinated.

Thanks again for the replies. I have been traveling between Turkey and the Philippines for the past 18 months' during the pandemic (every three months' or so). Good to see the quarantine may be between 5 and 7 days now for fully vaccinated when getting to Manila :)

Only if you were vaccinated in the Philippines, they don't recognise foreign vaccination proof so you will be stuck with the 14 day quarantine at Manila, 10 days hotel and 4 days at home.

You've done well to travel so much during the pandemic, must have cost you a fortune!

I miss the times when I was travelling there every three months :)

Ah, so I have misunderstood the recent news? I assumed the IATF meant that they would recognize Pfizer/Astra Zeneca from other countries?

Yeah, I was lucky as far as the travelling was concerned. My company paid for all my flights, business class :)

From the London Philippine DFA, the 7 day rule is for green list countries only and we are not on that list :(

Oh well, 10 days hotel it is.

By the way, the UK government has just announced that the Philippines and many other countries are now not on the 'red list' from November! :)
