To listen to you remoaners, anybody would think Britain is a failed state. Why do you persist with talking the country down - do you hate your country so much?

If we want to read the sort of garbage that once appeared in Der Sturmer, we can go to the Daily Express or Daily Mail websites.

The reference was to the state of the economy, which is a matter of fact, not of opinion. We certainly have a failed Government...

The growth figures affect me - they help me to determine my forecasts for the next year. My company is already hamstrung by Brexit so I'm amused that you think that I would wish for the UK's figures to be so appalling. It's just gallows humour.

Everybody has choices. I am not talking about privileged people, I am thinking of parents from India, Pakistan, and poorer Arab countries, that work their socks off also, but instead of just putting up with what life threw them, they scraped and saved any penny they could, and at great personal sacrifice moved their children, not themselves, to get the best education they could manage. My mother, who was alone after my father left us, also cleaned houses, together with other additional part time jobs. We relied on social benefits, free school meals, uniforms etc. Somehow, she mustered the courage to leave the relative security of our council house and uprooted us down to Brighton, staying with a sister, where she found a better paying job and worked 7 days a week, to make sure that I could attend a better school, then grammar and finally graduating with Electrical Engineering Degree. She didn't drink, smoke, socialist or spend a penny on herself. Everything she did was to provide a better life for me. You aren't the only underprivileged person on the forum.

I don't think I said that I was the only underprivileged person on the forum. I was also able to make good of my situation. All that aside, there are kids in this country facing sub-standard education in comparison to their peers in other parts of the country.

Your mother, whilst making a very good choice for you, was able benefit by staying with her sister. That option isn't available to many either. Also, you are forgetting that many people have other ties to the areas in which they live. For me, it is not acceptable for a kid in Town A to have poorer educational options than a person in a more affluent town. Why is it acceptable to you?

Education is state funded in the UK, therefore it is the Government's responsibility to ensure that all kids - regardless of their location or status - have the same standards of education, health and other services.

Should people whose parents have dementia be forced to move? Should victims of domestic crime be forced to move to areas where there are committed and competent officers?

    I repeat again -
