I believe after her British passport, she need to take an oath to Philippine Embassy to obtain dual nationality!
It's not obligatory to have a British Passport before making application to re-acquire Philippine citizenship. The issue is that the Philippine passport will get cancelled and if you have no other passport you cannot travel. Incidently, even with a British passport and the Philippine Citizenship Certificate it's possible to enter the Philippines and receive a BB stamp together with spouse and any children. My wife still did not obtain her Philippine passport.
The general residential requirements for spouses are:- have been resident in the United Kingdom for at least three years (this is known as the residential qualifying period) and had been present in the United Kingdom three years before the date of your application and have not spent more than 270 days outside the United Kingdom during the three-year period and have not spend more than 90 days outside the United Kingdom in the last 12 months of the three-year period and have not been in breach of the immigration rules at any stage during the three-year period For those who arrived into UK as the holder of a Fiance(e) Visa that time CAN be counted towards Citizenship.(unlike ILR where it cannot be counted.) There are quite generous additional allowances accepted for absences
My Oath taking will be on the 29th in the morning this month! :vhappy:I will apply for British passport the same day!
That's not possible for first time adult passport! they require an interview. After the application, they will write to you to schedule an interview and then after couple of days the passport will be issued. I know this fact because my friend and her family took and oath on the 4th Sept. applied the following week as she has to have the referee sign the signatory page and their photos, then was called for an interview on 26th Sept. then scheduled the interview on the 15th Oct. :attension: then had their passport after 2 days! :cheer:so imagine the waiting 5 to 6 weeks time! :drama: So it's not possible to get it in one day! :brit:
I wish one day application for passport is possible! so I can travel ASAP using my new British passport! :vhappy:
Today! I took an oath and now officially BRITISH!!! Yay! I filled up my voting form and applied for British passport right after the ceremony! Let's see how long it will take for them to call me for an interview!
NOP!!! 5 minutes ceremony as there are lots who wants to do private ceremony yesterday! The lady thought I was with my friend last time she did ceremony for them, as she remembers me, so she doesn't want to charge me £100 but I told her I am on my own and if she don't charge me she will be responsible if they found out its different family all together. So better to start my being British in a trustworthy way! :brit: Yay! I will let you know guys how long the passport processing will take! :cheer:
OMG! I've got my interview invitation letter today! it's faster than I thought! I called them but unfortunately their system is down today so I was told to call back again tomorrow! I asked the lady "You are working even weekends?" she said they do even Christmas day! no holiday for them at all! but of course it is double pay if they work over the holiday period. I am keeping my finger crossed to get an early interview so I can go back home with my family ASAP!
Okay! got my interview booked on 20th this month! till then I wil let you guys know when I received my passport!
Updated from my side. We got the wifes naturalisation paperwork filled out and used the National checking service. I phoned up Leicester city council but was told that was fully booked. She put me onto the Leicestershire county council and we managed to get an appointment in Loughbrough yesterday. That was basically 2 weeks from phoning up to arrange the appointment. I don't know if its the same else where round the country but here in Leicestershire it seems really busy. Anyway the lady was very nice and well worth the 55 odd quid for the service. We where told offically the waiting time is 4-6 months but she has known people take as little as 6 weeks, it just depends how busy they are. I'm paying using my card and she said make sure the funds are in place from 2 weeks onwards.
Yay! Got my interview on the 20th and now have my passport today 9:30 AM! :cheer: I am now officially British passport holder! :cheer:
Fantastic, well done. So where are you jetting off to first? How long did the naturalisation paperwork take to process in the end? We've had a slight set back, Just before I came to work on wednesday we recieved a letter saying there wasnt the required funds i the bank account My fault. Still filled out another debit form so hopefully another week or so and the money should disappear from our account.
