My wife is now in hospital with pneumonia and awaiting a test for Corona virus and she has been given paracetamol.
Her symptoms were that of a cold for the first week but had turned more serious by the tenth day, at that point we called 111 and an ambulance crew turned up but her lungs, oxygen levels, temperature etc didn't give any warning signs.
This evening her temperature was 39 degrees C, her oxygen level was 93% and her pulse 118. That's a big change in three days.
    Be careful everyone.

Oh hell so sorry sir, but very good news that she is in a hospital, this is my big fear that by the time I get it there might be no available beds or provision for proper health care.

Apparently the UK advice is still that anti antipyretic's like paracetamol are ok, but personally it would not be my choice to take it, the problem is there are no real case studies yet.

May I intrude and ask her age, even approximate?

edit: I'm not just afraid for me personally although I am afraid, but really the worry is that of all the people getting this thing 12% will need hospital treatment and that is an enormous number.

edit: sir I just listened to some information that stated that they would be concerned with an oxygen level below 90%, people seem to generally have levels up to 99% but it looks like 97% is not that unusual, 93% would seem to be quite good still, really hope so for your wife.

edit again: 94% to 98% saturation is apparently considered normal so she's not bad.

I personally wouldn't avoid taking paracetamol, while yes the body having a fever is sign of fighting infection. Having too hot a temperature is proven to lead to more serious conditions so regulating body temperature is best.

I'm relieved that your wife has now been accepted to receive medical care and wish her the best of a recovery.

It's more that it is a deliberate response of the body to infection, yes I agree that very high fever above say 39 degrees C should be treated but for most fever's there is no absolute requirement to treat them.

I didn't see many pedestrians on many of the roads on the outskirts of Coventry this morning. Normally there are many.
Not so many cars also. Trucks are everywhere and the government relaxed drivers' hours last night (this is another issue).

I've found petrol stations with shops have been good for some items, maybe less foot fall and use of pay at pump to avoid shop? Certainly need to shop around.

Went out for lunch to a popular Thai restaurant, normally packed, today totally empty, also spoke to two shopkeepers, both said footfall has slowed to a trickle.

Iv calmed down a bit now but the situation is ridiculous, we have not stockpiled we basically dont do a weekly shop but just for a couple of days ahead, We have avoided the big local Tesco for the past week and relied on Iceland & lidl, now however with Iceland closing at 5-00 pm we had to go to Lidl and like i said no fresh meat or veg, no tinned stuffs, very little frozen so its forcing us to go out more than what we want to just to try to find basic supplies. Tesco might have to be back on the agenda if it carries on like this.

we went to tesco monday evening--loo roll was on the list--there were stacks of it. only aisle that was empty was dried pasta. we got everything we went there for. if only people would shop as normal there would be no problems.

Right now you need to get to the store just after the delivery truck arrives, it's the same in the brand new Lidl that opened here, and Home Bargains might as well close because they have nothing left that anyone wants :)

Morrisons had some beef left tonight so i'm about to cook a beef and mushroom stew, I should have bought some of the steak as well and gone for for a beef and mangetout stir fry batch as well.

I just walk around with a big smile on my face looking at the empty shelves then waste my money on the luxuries since I can't buy any of the staples, so it's beer, wine and chocolate for me :D won't do my immune system any good :D

I have not stockpiled any more than usual but I always have loads of home made meals in my freezer, I have at least a months worth but I do top up regularly to keep some variety in my diet.

Yes a small corner shop in the Bootle area has been caught buying loo roll in Home Bargains and then selling it on in their own shop at inflated prices.
It's all over social media and the shop is now boycotted with comments like " remember what happened to the Sun newspaper"

I listened to an interesting prediction for the month of December, the chap predicted that there would be a massive number of babies born in December and some wag noted that they would probably be called the Coronials :D

Yep the pound is taking a hammering everywhere at the moment, is that because people feel we are handling the situation poorly ?, I know for most of us on here this will have an effect more so than on the average Joe Bloggs.
