Andrew. When I was faced with the daunting task of navigating my way through the obstacles, I picked up the phone and phoned around. I managed to find a way through that way.

I phoned the British Council and Hopkins in Makati, amongst others.

The whole thing is horrible, and honestly I have nightmares of the visa getting refused after all this! Crazy really when the UK is so full of people from other countries anyway. All we can do is keep going - work our way through each step - and hope for a positive result.

Exactly. It is still all do-able. Just a pain in the derriere. We are still going through it now. But hopefully for just 6 more months then hopefully bliss.

I think you have to look at the whole visa process and treat it as an assignment that you would do at work or whilst you're studying, it does as we all know require a lot of studying and certainly a lot of Googling and perusing through immigration sites.

And as we all know, sometimes we have to swap channels and see what they are recommending on the other website a lot of you chaps were members of :)

"14.We can only accept jpg photo file that sized by 500 X 750 pixels and file size less than 1MB..."

This is The British Council,... and they cannot even use English themselves!

MY fury is increased because my late father worked for the British Council,as their Representative, on a lousy salary and a worse pension, in some of the most UnGodly corners of the globe, from when he was demobbed until he retired in December 1969...

It is still within the 6 months limit, isn't it??

Is it not the case that the 6 month limit applies only to the amount of time remaining on the passport at the time that the visa is attached? Please note that I am NOT positive about this, but I believe it is the case. I'm afraid I cannot help you with the VFS query other than to suggest you call their staff.

They told me i can still submit my application but it will just take a delay because the embassy will also ask me to renew my passport if they find that my visa is not valid anymore.my problem is i cannot contact them and no office day tomorrow.

I'm not sure what to advise, other than to suggest you contact them as soon as they are open again, and explain that you could not make contact with them today. Ask their advice - I think they may be able to help you. Are you in the Phils?

    This might work?

    https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/Home/ViewFAQ

Can I change my appointment location?
If your appointment is made through Visa4UK and you have also paid online, then you can click the 'View Appointment' followed by the 'Update Appointment ' option in your application. You can use this to change your appointment location within the Visa Issuing Office Region options displayed. If you are looking for an appointment in another region or a different Country you will need to raise a new application with the relevant new location details. If your appointment is made on a Commercial Partner external website, then you will need to contact them.

Thank you for the advice everyone,I decided to request for refund because I realize if I rebook another appointment I need to have a new passport number. My previous passport is not valid anymore,I have to wait for the release of my new passport on Nov, 18.The problem with the VFS they dont explain to me the specific details, they just told me to rebook another appointment without there knowledge also that I need new passport number to fill up in the application form if so it's another mistake. That day is a very stressfull day for me and my wife, she's in UK we just got married last Jan, here in Philippines.

My wife has the same opinion of VFS too.

I've come to accept that everything takes ages to sort out if a Philippine Organization is involved. I would have thought Filipinos would have expected no different too?

Once done, at least you will not need to worry about passport for another 5yrs.
Then is starts all over again :frust: unless you get British Citizenship with British Passport which is renewed every 10yrs :like:

BUT if relying on using passport for traveling, then every passport is valid 6 months less than expiry date, as it seems to be the 'norm' that when entering a country, a passport must have a validity of 6 months from intended exit date.

I don't understand why the Philippine passport only lasts for five years, I'm going to London with the loved one in a couple of weeks to renew her passport, I'm expecting nothing less than waiting around in the Embassy for hours and getting agitated.

In fact due to my extremely low patience threshold I think I would be better leaving her to go in and do the business herself while I have a wonder :)

The wife had less than six months to expiry on her passport when we got married and this has prevented us going overseas on Honeymoon so I guess London will have to do for now, certainly not my first choice for a Honeymoon.

PLEASE check out British Council page in Facebook and see how it can help her, you can ask anything, they are very apt to reply and accommodate. You can avail of the free mock exams, provided you register with them, pending schedule for exam.
