People who prefix their remarks with those words generally mean the exact opposite.

I believe a country like ours does need a nuclear deterrent, we have enough warheads to obliterate Russia and that's where any likely threat will come from.

I look at it like this, if one nuke is launched then they will all be launched and it will be a big Roy Orbison job to say the least.

    Doesn't bear thinking about really.

Oh do behave! If the Tories had assumed Ukip's identity then Ukip's purple emblems would replace the blue Tory ones. The Tories have borrowed an idea of two, that's all. Move along please; nothing to see here.

Two things that will amuse you. The first is a character reference for Jeremy Corbyn authored by one of his fellow left-wing fellow travellers. The other is an account written by the Labour MP Thangam Debonaire about the appalling treatment she received from her leader - she, you may recall, was appointed a Shadow Minister for Arts and Culture - without her knowledge or consent - and sacked the following day again without a single word: she was away undergoing treatment for cancer.

Britain hasn't been invaded since 1066; should we scrap our armed forces too?

After perusing the news articles I am guessing JC would not like to be reminded of his past, its good to read about his political past as I'd never heard of him until he was up for the Labour leader election, now I know there was a very good reason why :)

The Tories may not have stolen UKIP's identity, but they (UKIP) is certainly struggling to find its identity in the post Brexit era.

UKIP would have attracted a huge range of people from Nick Griffin to Dennis Skinner.

Now the EU referendum is done, nobody really knows what they stand for. Although an extreme version, the Gisella Allen nonsense is a classic example in that UKIP candidates are like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates.

Although he is a traitor to the UK, Nigel Farrage is a born leader. A prefect figurehead for an emerging political party. UKIP might retain a lot of their share of the vote due to ongoing Brexit dispute, but I see no way in the future that Nuttall could help the party grow further.

Tim Farron - who says he is a devout Evangelical Christian - has steadfastly refused to answer questions abut whether he condemns gay sex as being illegal, most recently as yesterday. (Gay sex is a crime in the eyes of devout Catholics and Evangelical Christians.) He attended an event in Vauxhall today, which the Lib Dems are trying to take from Labour Brexiter Kate Hoey. As Tim took to the stage a placard emblazoned with the words "Tim Farron hates Gays" was unfurled, before the man carrying it, Michael Segalov, a Corbynista freelance journalist, was bundled away.

Farron again refused to answer questions about gay sex and an ITV reporter was booed by the Lib Dem audience. Tolerant lot the Lib Dems, just like Corbynistas.

Jeremy Corbyn has been endorsed by the Communist Party which will not be fielding any candidates for the first time since 1920 because the Labour leader is so in tune with its extreme left wing views.

For those who believe opinion polls:

Whilst in Scotland - if you believe the opinion polls - the Scottish Conservatives look set to recapture 12 seats, 11 from the SNP and the last remaining Labour one.

I'm sure Andrew has noted that another Tory Adviser has quit: Hayden Allen who works for Philip Hammond.

Arron Banks won't be standing for Parliament - probably still can't find Clacton on his map and besides which one of Ukip's councillors had already announced his candidature. And Paul Nuttall refuses to say whether or not he will stand.

Today's closing prices (Friday's prices in parentheses):

    Conservatives: 1/8 (1/20)
    Hung Parliament: 6/1 (11/2)
    Labour: 20/1 (12/1)
    Lib Dem: 66/1 (25/1)
    Ukip: 200/1 (1000/1)
    Greens: 1000/1 (200/1)

A Hung Parliament is looking a bit more likely as the odds for the main parties lengthen.

What amused me about Farron today was the fact that he kept saying he had answered the question on gays, it was obvious to me and all the viewers that he was evading the question in the way only politicians can.

He would be better answering the questions on gays truthfully, he is a born again Christian after all and he would be respected for it as many people share his view.

I don't think it is fair or relevant to the election campaign whether he is for or against gays and everything they stand for.

Farron is the elected leader of the Liberal Democrats and, in that capacity, influences party policy. The electorate has every right to know where he stands on issues, even those as sensitive as this. How else can voters make a reasoned decision whether or not to support his party at the ballot box?

Labour drops 10 points behind the Tories and Ukip's support all-but vanishes in Wales:

There's little doubt that UKIP are starting to move further to the right to retain voters it is losing to the Tories.

The odds for a Hung Parliament are also lengthening. In fact, the odds for each option have lengthened. This makes me suspect that you are quoting the "best" prices.

Conservatives 1/8? That's the sort of odds you get when Chelsea are home to Middlesbrough.

But one that Corbyn sympathises with. If he could he'd scrap our armed forces.

Our nuclear arsenal acts as a deterrent and very effectively. Britain, France and the US act as a counter to Russia, Iran and, with India, China and a balance is maintained. That's all being challenged by the new kid on the block, Kim Jong Un who is insane enough to use his nuclear weapons pre-emptively even though it will result in North Korea being wiped from the map.
