    Hello everyone.
I have just joined this forum looking for information, advice and a bit of banter. I have travelled extensively in the Far East but have not as yet visited the Philippines. I assume Manila is like Bangkok full of sex tourism and sleaze which I want to avoid. Hopefully I can travel out into the countryside as I am a keen bird watcher and naturalist. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Cheers.
    Brynski.

Hello brynski and welcome to British Filipino.

You wont regret it if you visit the Philippines that's for sure, its the people there which make it such an interesting place to visit.

Manila is far from a Bangkok but there are similar areas but not as prominent as in Bangkok. People here will point you in the right direction regarding anything you want to know about the Philippines.

You don't live in a bad place yourself, Shropshire is a lovely place.

No I don't recall seagulls. I did get to see to cocks in a mock fight. I say mock fight as it was just to show this kano (me) what it was all about. I have a video of it. I also say mock because the fights have to be 'official' and in a cockpit, or so I was told.

    Thanks guys for your welcome.
I think I'll find lots of feathered birds, its just the unfeathered bar birds I want to avoid...ha ha....:) ........
And KeithAngel it's no joke in South Korea where every living thing is eaten (birds, mammals insects..... everything :().
In China where everything is done as a group, the birdwatchers go to the forest as a noisy crowd (No wonder they don't see many birds), all with the same coloured caps and lead by a leader with a silly flag. They thought I was very strange bird watching quietly and on my own.

I spent 5 weeks in one of the remotest parts of the planet, in the jungle of Irian Jaya. Never saw one bird. I was told to watch out for the Cassowary birds and so didnt go looking for them.

You will only find the non feathered variety of birds in the Philippines if you go looking for them :)

In my experience China is the place where they eat absolutely everything, their motto is "the only thing we don't eat is the table and the chairs."

South Korea for me is one of the most boring places on the planet, I even found Soul boring, for sure you will find the Philippines much more of an interesting place, I would love to here your opinion on the country once you have visited.

Please be sensitive on comparing our country about the places you visited already. For you to know, we are not sex symbol territory. We are people who has high morale and values to ourselves. But I can't talk to all women here, I know there are women who sell themselves just for money, and it happens all over the world. I think you should visit our country and see it by your own eyes!

Plenty of birds in the Philippines, can't name them all but I saw a kingfisher, heron's, handsome sunbird, pacific swallow, lots of sparrows, eagles, mayo, then some I couldn't recognize. sort of cuckoo, thrush, and many more.

you need to go in the country side and sit in a quiet position, with a pair of binoculars. As for sea birds there's not many to see. http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LE...ry1.html/RK=0/RS=lCv1b_i_lUNIgqnmc4p8zEhYltE-
