Plenty of people now raise chickens in the UK, ducks may be less popular. You could try asking if anyoine can supply fertilised eggs or raise your own. If you decide on chickens, just be prepared for the noise every morning!

Cannot do with the noise of chickens in the morning, its a good way of telling if the missus comes from a good neighbourhood in the Philippines or not, if you can't hear chickens in the background during a Skype call then you know she lives in a decent place

Unless the sound of chickens is being drowned out by drunken Karaoke.

Lol, got both here, although we're not at her place but down by the beach, our neighbors in the next chalet have literally been on the karaoke from 7am to midnight for the last 3 days, wouldn't be so bad but some of them sound like they are strangling aforementioned chickens!

I live in the UK. A neigbour 3 doors down has chickens, including one cockrel. We also have a chicken farm on the outskirts of the village, but I am not sure if it has re-stocked after losing 700,000 chickens in the December floods.

I know where to buy. Balut in UK but you have to order it at least 3 weeks ahead. Home made and very fresh balut

Does the word fresh actually apply to balut, I think not

For me YES. You can buy Balut in some Asian Store but Im sure their Balut is more than 2 weeks old before they deliver it to the store as those Balut are not from England. I used the word FRESH as the one I knew selling Balut in England, their Balut is made at home. They dont have stock so you need to order it at least 3 weeks ahead

I said fresh because balut is a partially incubated embryo and it has either died during the incubation period through incorrect incubation techniques being used or the incubator has been switched off at a certain day of the incubation processs. I have many years experience installing large poultry incubators around the world including the Philippines.

I am not really sure that it is legal to sell balut in the UK as quality and disease worries may stop this. Having said that no one would even know, a tray of balut looks just like a tray of freshly laid eggs to the untrained eye :).

I think an award should be given to anyone who can eat two balut in a row without yawning in Technicolor

I share that view. You can bet the farm that some acne-faced Brussels-based bureaucrat will draft a Directive banning Balut once he hears about it.

You're considerably more generous than I who thinks they should be Sectioned under the Mental Health Act!

I cannot disagree with the above

Balut is partially developed embryo. If you are a Balut eater you can tell which one is FRESH and OLD.

You obviously know nothing what so ever about the incubation process

I can say that you are an expert about the incubator but have you been tried to eat Balut? And can you tell me which one is Fresh and Old?

You can ask your Filipina wife the difference between Fresh and Old Balut

The likelihood of my Filipina wife knowing whether a common disgusting street food like balut is fresh or old is absolutely zero. You need copious amounts of Red Horse followed by a bottle of Jonnie Walker to even consider eating balut. I would rather scavenge the bins of Manila for pagpag,
