Unfortunately you misunderstood what I was getting at when I said fresh, English to Tagalog misinterpretation I guess.
You are not a Balut eater so you dont know what I mean. You said Fresh is not applicable to Balut as the egg has been incubated. I stated Fresh Balut not Fresh Egg. The only reason why you cant get what I mean of Fresh is because you dont eat Balut. Thanks and good night
The meaning of fresh is: recently created or experienced and not faded or impaired. Balut is a partially formed duck embryo that is 17 t0 21 days old, nothing fresh about that I'm afraid.
Thats what they told me. Cant see it myself. I think I would end up chundering down the big white telephone.
I definitely think you would be talking into the big white telephone. The countries I've worked in that have similar horrible delights similar to balut always say the same, "it will make you strong" load of bollocks, it will make you ill.
"Balut" is, as Tim correctly states, a partially-formed duck embryo. However most Balut vendors in the Philippines sell a much cheaper alternative using hens' eggs. Both are equally disgusting but possibly not quite on a par with "Century Eggs" or barbecued dog which you'll also find in some of the less enlightened communities around the country. Balut's popularity is actively challenged by animal rights groups including PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and with some success.
By producing balut you are effectively killing the duck or chicken before it is even born, I can see why the animal rights people have got hold of this one.
I worked at an enormous hatchery about 30 years ago and the animal rights people set fire to all the trucks there in the middle of the night and burnt them out costing the company a lot of money. The animal rights people do not think of the consequences when they commit crazy acts like this.
