    Hi all,

Finally got into Manila and the quarantine hotel after a very, very long journey and so much red tape!

One comment and suggestion is try be bulletproof for everything as the authorities severely check the smallest details. I've travelled so many times to the Philippines over the past 2 years through the pandemic, but this trip was something special! I mean special as I've noticed things have really ramped up even from my last visit in July. Also, I would recommend everyone getting a PCR test done 72 hours before flying. I was under the impression from the UK, being 'yellow listed' that we didn't need a PCR test to travel as it will be done on your 5th day of hotel quarantine. First thing I was asked for at Heathrow was if I had a PCR test? Subsequently, landing in Hong Kong was the same. I made the decision only on the Thursday to get a PCR test done before my flight last Saturday. Thankfully I did otherwise I wouldn't have been able to board in Heathrow! Also, the authorities at the airport said I should have done a private PCR test and not NHS. Thankfully, they said OK for this time. Apparently, they view it as I was taking a PCR test away from someone who really needs it! Which, in all fairness it may be true but we know there's tens of thousands being tested each day even if they've been close to someone who may have it (and I think we all agree we are always close to someone who has Covid as there's so many people being infected each day!)

    Anyway, bulletproof is the key!

Getting a PCR later in the week, Er indoors has booked it for a clinic in Heathrow itself (3 hour guaranteed results) or just outside the airport, air Canada don't let you fly otherwise.

I just had the test @ heathrow Collinson clinic. 2 hours and test done. Cebu was a breeze to get through immigration if double vaccinated. Singapore requires a Covid Test with bar code even for transit.

I think Druk already posted the "in due time" vid, in the Phils that could mean a year from now but it would be great if it happened soon.

    How're conditions in quarantine?

    Hi OSS,

The conditions are 50/50. Problems with noise from construction and the pre paid food is not consistent In quality, as expected really. More strict this time on movement, its total isolation to room. Staff are great tho. Apart from that I will see the fam soon so happy as can be :)

I did that crossing near Niagara Falls once, about 15 years ago, then drove down to Maryland.
Niagara falls wasn't as spectacular as I hoped it would be.

When are you going to Canada?

Hi Fham, yeah you can print out the pdf from the app, better to hand carry as they check at different times through out the process.

Philippines says planning to re-open to vaccinated tourists (msn.com)

This is published Friday 19th Nov so this is recent word.

It sounds tentative but it is encouraging for me, although this line could exclude the UK as case rates are still high here

6 days quarantine is soul destroying imo after being away from family so long. Its like a big relief getting off the flight, then 6 days lockup! Hope they put UK on green list I agree.

Probably changed again since then Jim, dated last week. PH changes it's mind more times than the British weather.
